CBS’ Fire Country this Friday introduced us to Mickey Fox, a sergeant with the Edgewater County sheriff’s department.

Played by Morena Baccarin (Gotham, Homeland), Mickey made her grand entrance at the top of the episode via bit of a helicopter chase, between her/her pilot and a drug runner. The suspect lobbed his duffel bag of cash out the ‘copter door, veritably raining bills down on the Three Rock inmates below. The ill-gotten cash was promptly rounded up, though, with (almost) all of it accounted for.

Series creator, executive producer, and star Max Thieriot steps behind the camera to direct CBS’s Fire Country season two episode six. Written by Joan Rater and Tony Phelan, episode six – “Alert the Sheriff” – featuring guest star Morena Baccarin (Gotham) will air on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 9pm Et/Pt.

Max Thieriot leads the cast as Bode, Billy Burke plays Vince, Kevin Alejandro is Manny, and Diane Farr is Sharon. Stephanie Arcila stars as Gabriela, Jordan Calloway is Jake, and Jules Latimer plays Eve.

“Alert the Sheriff” Plot: After a fire camp inmate escapes from Three Rock, the deputy sheriff with a surprising connection to the Leones, Mickey (Baccarin), is called to investigate.

I’ve had computer issues for the last day and a half. Nothing major, but I needed a part, thought I ordered it from a place that would deliver in two hours, and, after my order was processed, I found out it would be two days, not two hours.

So this is late to my editor. And also, I thought I had a “Get Out of Writing My Column Free” card since I couldn’t use my computer, so I haven’t been thinking much about comics or pop culture. At least, not any more than normal.

So, here’s some thoughts at random.

Maybe I’m not reading the right sites, but I don’t recall any fuss about a woman of color playing Tulip on the television series, Preacher, despite the comic book character being a blonde, blue-eyed white woman. Have we grown up, or have too few people read the original story?...

Kevin Sorbo leads the cast of this Canadian sci-fi film.

For the moment, no release date has been announced for this film, which is based on a comic book by Canadian writer Christos N. Gage.

The story is about a detective, Sean Nault (Kevin Sorbo), who investigates on a series of weird murders that were committed with the help of science. Because he lives on a parallel Earth, Nault only knows what magic is. In his investigation, he's helped by Leonore (Steph Song), a person who believes that science has its place in society. During their mission, both will be led to another dimension and they must hurry before both Earths get destroyed.

The film also stars Christopher Judge, Alan C. Peterson, Alisen Down, Jerry Wasserman, Michael St. John Smith, David Richmond-Peck, Vladmir Moskovchenko, Kanji Nimet, Keith Dallas, Adrian Holmes, Jeny Cassady, Sean Tyson and Gerry Durand.
