Met her husband Daniel Hunter, while on vacation in San Francisco. The couple then married three weeks later despite her friends telling her that the marriage wouldn't last through the winter.

Now lives with her husband in Richmond Hill, Ontario. They have no children, but they do have cats.

Lived in California while filming _"Road to Avonlea" (1990)_ and commuted back and forth to Toronto/southern Ontario where the series was shot.

Majored in Physical Education at the University of Toronto.

Ruffman is a licensed contractor
