Sang the title role of Kay, in the first LP recording of George Gershwin's "Oh, Kay!", the most complete recording of the score up to that time. It was one of a series of 1950s' recordings of hit musicals that had not appeared as long-playing albums up to then. They were produced by Columbia Records executive (later president) Goddard Lieberson.
She and husband John Williams initially met in high school. They met later again as adults and this time fell in love. He composed "Treesong" between 1974-76, a concerto for violin in memory of his late wife.
