During the Worlds Fair in New York, John Paxton wrote a piece for the New Yorker called "The Voder's Nursemaid". This was a description of the 'machine that could talk' in the A T & T exhibit, and Stanley Watkins, the Bell Labs engineer who made the machine talk. The article never got into the New Yorker but is in "Sortabiography: The First Sixty," unpublished manuscript by Stanley S A Watkins.
