Played minor league baseball (New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, and Texas Rangers) from 1980-1988. After becoming an actor, he played a major league pitcher in Little Big League (1994).

Attended Rutgers University to study for a degree in comparative literature but dropped out to play baseball for community colleges in Florida and Arizona.
