ट्रिविया

Alan Napier

बदलाव करें
  • In Tim Burton's remake बैटमैन (1989), the Joker's alter ego is named Jack Napier, in Alan Napier's honor.
  • He was initially reluctant to sign on to play Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred Pennyworth, on Batman (1966) before a friend pointed out to him that the series would make him the most famous butler in the world.
  • Father of Jennifer Nichols. Maternal stepgrandfather of actor Brian Forster.
  • Close friends with Michael Gough, who later played Alfred Pennyworth in बैटमैन (1989), बैटमैन रिटर्न्स (1992), बैटमैन फॉरएवर (1995) and बैटमैन और रॉबिन (1997).
  • Immigrated to the United States on April 28, 1939.
  • Following his death, his ashes were spread out on his rose garden at his home in Pacific Palisades, California. He was cremated at Chapel of the Pines Crematory in Los Angeles.
  • Shortly before the "Batman" series premiered, the character of "Alfred" was killed off in the comic books (replaced by "Aunt Harriet"). With the popularity of the TV series and of Napier's performance, "Alfred" was brought back in the comics.
  • In the early seventies, he wrote an autobiography, which was not published at the time. "Not Just Batman's Butler" was finally published in September, 2015 by McFarland Press with annotations and additional chapters by James Bigwood, who first met him in 1975, when profiling him for "Films in Review".
  • Best remembered by the public for his role as Alfred Pennyworth on the television series Batman (1966).
  • Was a cousin of Neville Chamberlain (British Prime Minister, 1937-1940), through several different family lines. They were first cousins, once removed, as Alan's maternal great-grandparents, Joseph Chamberlain and Caroline Harben, were also Neville's paternal grandparents. He was also a second cousin, once removed, of the Prime Minister, as Alan's maternal great-great-grandparents, Archibald Kenrick and Rebecca Smith, were also Neville's maternal great-grandparents. The two were also third cousins, once removed, through Alan's maternal great-great-great-grandparents, Joseph Paget and Mary Harding, the Prime Minister's maternal great-great-grandparents.
  • Attended and graduated from Clifton College in Bristol, England.
  • Henry Daniell suffered a fatal heart attack while working on My Fair Lady (1964), and the role was completed by Napier.
  • Attended and graduated from Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).
  • Was friends with Adam West.
  • Had appeared with George Sanders in eight films: The House of the Seven Gables (1940), Appointment in Berlin (1943), Action in Arabia (1944), Hangover Square (1945), The Strange Woman (1946), Forever Amber (1947), Lured (1947) and Moonfleet (1955). Additionally, Sanders made a 'special guest villain' appearance (as "Mr. Freeze") on Batman (1966), where Napier had a series regular role.
  • He was the son of Mary Millicent (Kenrick) and Claude Gerald Napier-Clavering.
  • His death day is much involving 8s. He died on the same day Britain's royal, Princess Beatrice was born.
  • He has appeared in five films that have been selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant: Cat People (1942), Lassie Come Home (1943), The Court Jester (1955), Mary Poppins (1964), & My Fair Lady (1964).
