While Dark Matter season 2's renewal is excellent news for the show, it does also bring to mind a similar Apple TV+ sci-fi show, but one that wasn't afforded the same opportunity to continue its story beyond a single season. The changes made to Blake Crouch's Dark Matter book to create the live-action adaptation created the chance for the multiverse saga to continue beyond the events of the source material. The other show in question wasn't an adaptation, but it was similar to Dark Matter in other ways.

The success of Dark Matter means it can be added to the impressive ongoing collection of Apple TV+ sci-fi shows. While it's currently unclear how long the show will run, its premise allows for the possibility of a multi-season story if Dark Matter season 2 is also well-received. Apple TV+ won't be moving forward with another season of Constellation. It has been revealed that the sci-fi series will be a one-and-done series for the streaming platform.

Per THR, Constellation has been canceled by Apple TV+ after one season. The decision comes less than three months after the series debuted on Apple TV+ in late February and wrapped up its eight-episode run in late March. While exact viewership numbers are not known, Constellation never ranked in Nielsen's Top 10 streaming charts during its run. Reviews were on the positive side, but not stellar, as the show has a 71% score at Rotten Tomatoes.

I not going to hide the fact I’m a huge Transporter fan, from the very first movie to the more recent, if little seen here in the UK, TV show, I’ve enjoyed [to various extents] each and every entry in the franchise. So, unlike some out there, I was not afraid to see the film series rebooted with a new star and a new story. And that’s what we get with The Transporter Refueled. My only worry was that no-one connected to the original films, apart from Luc Besson, had any part of this film… But then that was also the case with the series, and I really enjoyed that!

Chris Pine's career has been hit or miss. Though he's found great success playing Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek, relaunching the franchise with a series of new sci-fi adventures that reimagine that entire universe, he was unable to reboot Jack Ryan as a viable film series. Released in early 2014, it only earned $50.5 million domestically off a $60 million budget. Its not one of the biggest bombs of the year, as it recouped globally, bringing in a worldwide total of $135.5 million. A year and a month ago we were standing on the 007 stage at Pinewood with Kenneth Branagh telling us ‘I love going to see films like this. The first weekend I love to see a great big movie on a great big screen. So the idea we could make something like this is a departure for me.’ This week UK audiences have the chance to judge for themselves how well Branagh has taken to the world of Jack Ryan.

The latest in the line of films based on the works of the late Tom Clancy Branagh is continuing a very interesting path away from the stage with Thor and this film. Chris Pine is the latest incarnation of our titular hero, but as Branagh explained on-set this is a very different Ryan to those as played by the likes of Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.

The movie was The Sum of All Fears, those fears being fully realized by virtue of Ben Affleck playing Ryan. If Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit proves anything, it’s that in the ensuing dozen years, CIA analysts, spies, and various black windbreaker-sporting government underlings have learned to type very fast. Indeed, there’s a lot of typing in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, a lot of button-mashing on laptops and cell phones and a lot of barking new directives in response to the button mashing on laptops and cell phones. The lightning fast retrieval of bad guy info might be a boon to the American agents entrusted with stopping a Russian plot to sink the U.

Chicago – Actor Chris Pine should use the term “Rebooter” as his middle name. After taking on the Captain Kirk role in the “Star Trek” series, he now is the latest to portray CIA super spy as “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” a literate and pulse racing adventure directed by Kenneth Branagh.

It all starts with a legitimate story, and the script by Adam Cozad and David Koepp keeps everything in line with today’s geopolitical atmosphere. Director Branagh – who also takes on the villain role – brings in an artsy paranoia to the proceedings, and creates the action based on a step-by-step terrorist mystery that connects right back to September 11th. Chris Pine has a empathetic naturalism as the latest Jack Ryan, a reluctant operative if there ever was one, concerned more with the deception of his shadow life and his fiancee than the mission, until the two intersect.
