In this whimsical, rather fey movie in a setting that's both shabby (the city) and grand (the landscape), two couples who trade places and two older men who bother the shy main character Fleischman wander in and out of scenes in a hotel perched on a mountain and topped by a pointed weather tower. There are dreamy, breathtaking panoramic views of sky, clouds, and the city of Liberic below. Up in that tower, Fleischman practices the art of meteorology and shies away from girls.

Fate has been harsh to Standa but he took all the hard knocks without much fuzz. Being released from a prison, he believes everything would change for the better now. His former boss Zdenek owes him a considerable sum of money and Standa hopes it will help him to fulfil his dreams.

But can he do it, being just a bird? In a series of weird events sir is kidnapped by a Czech journalist undergoing his midlife crisis. The guy has him publicly say some really controversial statements, causing a diplomatic scandal. At the end of the day it is the French who decide to assassinate their own national hero....And that's only the half of the story.

The story of a family, which is shaken by the sudden separation of the parents. They decide to find themselves, but each separately. Before that, they have to find a new homes, so they temporarily travel to the families of their children.
