In this scene, Emma's father "Scat" has returned from a short stint in prison, maybe five and a half years or so. He has been missing from his daughters life and she is over the moon to have him back, only to learn that he doesn't have a lot of time and tells her what is coming. He talks about how proud of her that he is and that he will always be with her.
