Another who dunnit series that fails building a suspense. Despite a great cast the characters are blend aren't given the chance to tell their story. This series follows a standard storyline and doesn't give any unexpected twists and turns. Knowing the creator behind it you can't expect anything unique from the story line. This is for the crowd who don't expect anything special. Who like the predictably and the classic setting. It's watchable as background noice. Another thing missing is a B plot. Im guessing this series had a reasonable budget. I don't understand why Netflix won't broaden their creator base. Safe is not always a winning concept.
The endless one-takes. I can't believe the work and preparation to achieve the precision needed to do these extraordinarily long takes.
You can tell the show is scriptless. The give away is the authenticity in the communication between the teenagers.
This is a masterpiece! Stephen Graham doesn't disappoint. Once again he delivers some incredible acting. Erin Doherty is perfectly casted for the role as a psychiatrist. The young boy playing Jamie, cant wait to see him in future productions.
Why did I rate this 9 and not 10? I think this could have been done in 3 episodes. My guess is that the Netflix required 4 episodes and the story was stretched.
But many questions are left unanswered and despite the disappointing ending the quality of it is worth a 9,

First of all, Billy Bob Thornton is amazing in this role. Unlike Yellowstone this show isn't about the top dogs. The plot is great and casting is on point. I love the phase how the story moves forward and storyline is engaging to the viewer.
Only thing I personally didn't enjoy is the unnecessary C plot that circles around the teenage daughter. How ever I understand it's purpose, to catch the younger viewers who wouldn't necessarily watch a show like this.
The B plot that focuses on the son is one of the highlights and hope to see that story evolve.
Great show, I can't wait for a second season!
