This was on recently and since I hadn't seen it since the 1990s, I figured give it another view. I remembered enjoying it then.
Unfortunately, this time, I found it quite hokey. The dialogue was bad, the acting was bad, everything just didn't work for me. The ending was really lame, the effects were pretty bad for 1988.
The only interesting thing was seeing Mykelti Williamson almost perform the exact same moves he would do in Forrest Gump several years later (carrying his girlfriend, then dying - which you see him do in Forrest Gump with Tom Hanks).
This definitely ranks low on my top Apocalyptic movies. Doesn't quite rank up there with even serious movies about nuclear war, like The Day After or Threads.
