I adore this series. Here's why. It's a blend of thriller, action, drama and very goofy almost slapstick-like humor. It often involves River Cartwright ( Jack Lowden). He has the looks of a suave spy and the attitude too...but....he has perennial bad luck. Makes a big jump, strains his ankle...walks over a roof...falls through...gets kidnapped, arrested, tied up and chased by men and dog. Than there is Jackson Lamb ( gary oldman)..his boss who prefers to do nothing and eat..but....he is brilliant. He cares deeply about his team but he'd never show it. The team keeps changing, there are a few unexpected deaths of teammembers through the seasons. Season 4 was poignant because former super agent and River's grandfather played by Jonathan Price shows signs of dementia. At the end of the series River is forced to bring him to a nursing home...these soulful moments, great acting and as said...the humor makes this a fantastic series...

Two former presidents one republican (Jack Lemmon) one a democrat, ( James Garner) get stuck together when they discover plot which involves the current president ( Dan Aykroyd). One of his security staffers takes the hunt very seriously wanting to kill the former presidents off. Somehow this movie has the feel of a made for television movies. Sure there are some action sequenses but it is all rather tame. Still it is a very great pleasure to see Lemmon and Garner bouncing of each other. There are some quite funny conversations. The cast is also good though Lauren Bacall is tragically waisted in little more than a cameo as Lemmon's wife. It is not meant to be taken seriously. But you still have a good time watching it.
