This film reminded me a lot of Shaun of the Dead with it's comedic tone mixed in with violence and horror theme. What I really wished was this movie didn't play it so safe though. There were moments where I was really laughing out loud and other moments where I was scratching my head. The movie's premise is a simple one where Vampires invade an office space and you can figure out the rest. I was entertained throughout but it was forgettable in the end. Pedro Pascal chews up every scene he is in and you can tell he is having fun. This film forfilled it's purpose and gets a 7 star rating out of 10.
Freaky Tales is a love letter to the City of Oakland and the Bay Area. Those who grew up in the area will know and those who did not might be a little confused. The Directors were so creative with how they weave each short story in the film into a bigger grand narrative. The movie features big stars in it and this really helps with driving each story. Those who love the 80's genre will really enjoy this movie as well because this movie gets it right. The movie has indie written all over it and I can see it as a bigger cult status in the near future. One of the wildest hidden gem type of films I have seen as of recently. I do wish the movie could have been a little more tighter on the narrative and also had the opportunity to spend more time with our characters in each of their stories. Overall this was a terrific film and I'm glad I had a chance to watch it. Freaky Talrs gets a near perfect 9 stars out of 10 from me.
Final Destinstion: Bloodlines is a love letter to the previous Destination installments while also crafting a unique story that is worthwhile. I went into this movie with zero expectations that it would be any good and I was totally surprised what I had just watched. The movie was gruesome with the type of kills that occurred on screen and keeps you guessing as well. I don't know how many times I was wrong trying to guess how someone would be killed on screen only to be totally off. This was one of the last films that actor Tony Todd starred in and it was a great and sad send off. The whole cast and crew here seem to be having fun and I think the viewer will to if this type of horror genre is their preference. Final Destination: Bloodlines gets a very solid 8 stars out of 10 from me.
