I think people should refrain themselves to categories quickly this movie. They should have in mind who is Francis Ford Coppola and what he did for the cinematography.
He states from the beginning that it's fable, and some fables are understood, others needs some time.
Some people wrote very long commentaries, talking about ideology and so forth, getting lost in details. Giving 4 or even 1 to this is a big mistake.
I saw it last evening, without interruptions, and honestly I was not bored.
Definitely I need it to see it again, taking some notes about ancient mythology, and doing some research on what I don't know. Then see it again.
After the movie was finished, another great movie came to my mind. Stanley Kubrick's - A Space Odyssey, which I didn't understood after the first viewing.
Megalopolis is some sort of contemplation of the real actual world and raises a lot of questions. Yes, it's a fable about our society, and is a provocation.
As humans, our perception is limited at what we know. Not seeing something doesn't mean that doesn't exists.
History shows that all empires started declining and then collapsed.
"When does an empire die?
Does it collapse in one terrible moment?
No, but there comes a time when its people no longer believe in it.
Then does an empire begin to die."

Usually I'm not watching these kind of movies but because I like Kate Beckinsale, I tried. These days we are flooded by female-agent-killer movies. I guess comes with the emancipation wave. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a misogynist but to consider that women physical force can surpass men power, this is not right.
I made efforts to watch it till the end. Why? Because it's predictable, dull, and exaggerated.
People say Kate Beckinsale is looking amazing at 51. I agree with that but I'm wondering how many treatments she had. For me is obvious that she had at least a lips job. The look of her face is changed. I don't say it's not beautiful but changed. And what happened to her voice? More than a few times the voice is horible, like she smokes 4 packs a day.
She was great in Total Recall because the movie (script) is good. In my humble opinion, she should concentrate in romantic or comedies and let the actions aside. This movie damaged her esteem but I suppose she has to pay her invoices like everyone. Cheers.

Good, yes. Masterpiece, no. Time will tell if will became a classic. But instant classic, wow!?
I can process a list of best cartoons/animation, but I suggest start googling.
It's just a like a Hollywood story, not true. This message of tolerance and unity, we see it in the movies and in some texts, but not in real life. Do we need tolerance and unity, yes! But at this level, impossible.
I will talk about my Golden Retriever, 2 years and 4 months old. It's a very kind dog with all dogs, and all humans. He let other small dogs to attack him, without responding, just avoiding the attacks. He never barked on a small dog who's attacking him. But you know what, when he see a cat, he wants to chase her and he starts barking. I have to pay attention to not attack my neighbors 's cats. I'm telling him each time no, he knows I don't like it but he cannot control himself.
In the end, it's not a bad animation but some people are exaggerating a lot.
