This is one of those movies that few people are aware of and which probably wouldn't appeal to most if it was just mentioned in conversion. That's kind of sad (but not unexpected) but this movie is something of an animated masterpiece.
It manages to perfectly convey the stories that it sets out to tell and does so incredibly well, not only through the fantastic art but also the first class writing.
Nothing about this is 'dumbed down', and yet it's produced in such a way that anyone who takes the time to sit down and watch it would be entranced by its visual and narrative beauty.
Simply put, it's a really wonderful production.

I love slow burn, atmospheric, well written stories, but this one fails on the writing side.
It's curious how many people seem to love it so much - obviously I'm missing something but, well, all tastes differ of course, it would be a boring old world if we were all the same.
I have no complaints about the acting, everyone puts in a good performance, including the guest stars, but the writing lets them down - it's all terribly predictable and uninspiring and relies on occasional shock value and a bit of gore.
In short, and as per the title of this review, it's terribly tedious. Which is a shame.

This used to be one of my favorite X-Files episodes during times when I would just absorb any old garbage and not employ any kind of critical thinking skills.
Now though I see all of the ridiculous plot holes and the incredibly dumb actions and decisions of the characters.
The general premise is intriguing and the episode has a nice and creepy atmosphere thanks to excellent cinematography, score and direction, but to enjoy it fully you need to leave your brain at the door to avoid thinking critically.
Heck of a shame, I love smart X-Files episodes (who doesn't?) but this sure ain't one of them I'm sorry to say.
