I more often than not abandon many a series because they simply fail to hold my attention. This one kept me watching! The characters are interesting and quirky and the story moves along at a fast pace with no time for boredom to take hold. I've watched the first two episodes and at this point I'm eagerly awaiting the next .

I'm not overly keen on Ukweli Roache's portrayal of Caffrey which is quite flat and weak but other than him the cast are very engaging. The Anchor -Ferrers' and the home invaders are played superbly with a darkly comic slant and horrible as the baddies are you can't look away. I'm not sure why there are so many poor reviews ~ In my view this is very watchable.

Perfectly written and perfectly acted. Tony Curran is one of my favourite actors anyway and in this he again shows the skill he has of brilliantly bringing a character completely to life. The whole cast was simply sublime and the story heartbreakingly simple and true. It captures the flavour of being young and the intensity of friendship which carries on through the years. I cried and genuinely smiled. Being Scottish and of the same era it was so relatable and real but this will connect with anyone from anywhere. Get a box of tissues and watch it on your own so you can ugly cry. Captivating TV.

Maybe I was expecting too much after the hype but this wasn't a patch on the Barbra And Kris version. That one left me in bits and still does. The music was better, the performances were better and the storyline was better. Lady gaga was ok . Bradley was good but there just wasn't the depth in the performances to keep me riveted. All in all it was pretty disappointing and I definitely won't watch it again.
