  • All the kills r offscreen and the movie is very tedious.

I first saw this in the early 90s on a vhs.

Revisited it recently on a fast forward mode.

The movie is very tedious and all the kills r offscreen. Nothing memorable.

Why did the director turned a serial killer into a zombie Frankenstein with a bowl on his head is beyond me.

In the end of Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, Ricky is shot three times but he was never shot in the head nor did he suffer any injury to the head, so why the "bowl on his head"?

Generous with a 2 for the two beautiful faces, Laura Harring and Samantha Scully.

  • I loved the way the killer made mother Superior run.

I first saw this in the early 90s on a vhs.

    Revisited it once more.

This one has 39 mins of footage from the previous part.

In the original, Father Jim gets shot mistakenly by the cop outside the orphanage but in this one they say that it was the janitor Kelsey who got shot by the cop mistakenly.

The first kill is done in a terrible way.

It's gets annoying, red handkerchief, red car, red stuff... Also what kinda man uses a full red color handkerchief?

We have a nasty kill via an umbrella. Impaling by umbrella really possible?

Wtf happened to mother Superior? Her face?

I loved the way the killer chased mother Superior and made her feel scared. She deserved to go thru the tension for punishing small kids.

  • Watch Sarfarosh and learn something. Twice my reviews got deleted. Yeehaw!

Many people walked out the theatre midway.

Was it the length (almost 4 hours boredom) or was it the sick gore (shock value)?

    Twice my reviews got deleted.

There r infinite losers in my beloved India that they cannot respect opinions. These losers love chest thumping jingoism.

Everybody involved in this movie shud learn from Sarfarosh.

Sarfarosh handled cross border terrorism, domestic terrorism, underworld mafia, corrupt cops, snitch network, corrupt businessman, etc so very well n Sarfarosh was way ahead of its time.

Coming back to this movie, during the end car scene when Hamza is driving Rehman towards Chowdhury, Rehman removes a pocket knife. Rofl. An underworld don not carrying a pistol? Also when Hamza runs away in the forest and Chowdhury n his team surrounds Rehman, that time Rehman very conveniently removes machine guns. Very conveniently for action sequence.

A daughter recording a father's political meeting to hand over to her paramour is beyond me.

Enemy country Pakistan having sophisticated guns n other weapons manufactured in their own backyard is again beyond me. I thot Pakistan is a poor country n backwards regarding technology.

Basically this movie is Gangs of Wasseypur part 3 set in Pakistan with gore, abusive language in Hindi n vulgarity.

This movie insulted an ex prime minister Manmohan Singh (a gem of a person n the best finance minister from India), glorified villains n promoted us vs them mentality.

  • Unpredictable twist with sufficient mystery.

While in the first part Jatil is summoned to investigate the murder of a rich aristocrat, this time Jatil Yadav returns as a more experienced but still morally stubborn officer to investigate the massacre of members of the Bansal family.

While the Bansal family is very rich n powerful with connections everywhere, Jatil infuriates his superiors, forensic experts n remaining members of the Bansal family to seek truth so that he can sleep peacefully.

At last we, Bollywood, hav our own Benoit Blanc n Hercule Poirot.

The movie moves at a decent pace, with sufficient tension n suspense.

Nawaz once again gave a terrific performance.

    Waiting for part 3.

  • Blame everything on the devil.

    I saw this on Netflix.

The movie very conveniently blames the Spanish Inquisition on the devil.

U wont find any blood-letting, nudity or nunsploitation stuff in this PG 13 venture.

Also the movie lacks the scare factor.

I am really surprised that Hollywood is not getting saturated by these Exorcism themed movies. It's been 50 years since The Exorcist but yet they r churning these movies left right and centre.

Ludicrous to blame the Spanish Inquisition on the devil.

  • Fulci wud have been proud due to the eyeball scene.

First saw this in the late 80s on a vhs.

    Revisited it recently.

It's simple math that this was made to cash in on the success of Dawn of the Dead.

Bruno Mattei is obsessed with rats that he made an entire movie on rats titled Rats:Night of Terror.

But this one has a rat which causes the mayhem in a lab.

But I am still scratching my head how the rat got inside the lab.

The zombies in this one are people with black powder on their faces n the facial expressions a big lol.

Those days the criminals were stereotyped but in today's time the whole world is aware who the real tyrants are.

The ciminals in this movie r plain retards.

They take an embassy hostage without securing the perimeter and these criminals are not prepared with gas masks.

The movie has lots of stock footages of wild animals as if the setting is that of a real forest.

A woman suddenly goes topless to join a native tribe.

We have a very gross scene of that of a woman who eats live maggots from a decomposed body.

We have an amazing character Zantoro.

Check out his eyeballs when another person's eyeballs gets popped out.

  • Unsettling atmosphere, surreal landscapes and grim story.

I first saw this 2 decades ago on UTV World Movies channel (dedicated to international cinema with English subtitles, alas it discontinued).

    Revisited it recently.

The movie is really very grim aptly suiting the title. It is a bit surreal too.

Jacob n Marie r abandoned by their father in the faraway woods due to the family's financial constraints.

The siblings embark to visit their uncle n aunty but before reaching they encounter tough situations, wild forest, snowy landscapes, abduction n rape, etc.

The movie changes the locations from the desolated frozen lands to the bright n warm sunny Spain.

I loved the movie's surreal road journey from Dutch farmlands, cold, bleak, almost fairy-tale-like landscape, emphasizing the characters isolation to a bright sunny desert like Spain, a dreamlike setting, isolated villa with a swimming pool n filled with bizarre n menacing figures.

  • Over the top gore, fast paced, funny but brutal at times.

I saw this few years ago.

They say that the movie is based on true events. The bear ingesting cocaine is true but the bear going on the killing rampage is false.

What must have been the health of the poor bear after ingesting cocaine?

I enjoyed the scene where the bear is in pursuit of a speeding ambulance, some good action n tension.

The movie is over the top gory n brutal at times and it is fast paced.

I think most horror movie fans enjoy horror movies involving bear going crazy. There is one glitch in this movie, the movie's tone is not dark n serious at all compared to Backcountry and other horror movies on Bear attack.

This movie and the tv series Black Bird r the last ones starring Ray Liotta.

Because the movie had so many characters, most of them don't have much depth to them, including Ray Liotta's.

The bear looks cool, director Elizabeth Banks doesn't hold back on gore and the comedy is lol at times.

I saw this in Movietime Suburbia theatre Bandra with my entire family.

I forgot to write a review then but I felt it necessary to write it now cause this ain't no movie but an aberration.

Salman Khan's fake hair was so irritating man.

In one scene he drops his jacket from almost an height of ten floors building, later he jumps and wears the jacket mid air.

Now this shud suffice the entire movie.

  • Using the name Viking is sheer careless flippancy.

I saw this few years ago on Netflix.

Gone r the days of a good Werewolf movie and the same is true for a good vampire movie.

The last good vampire movie i enjoyed was Blood Red Sky but I cannot recall the last good Werewolf movie.

And all this is due to the hijacking by The Twilight saga films, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries, etc.

Coming back to this film, after the intriguing start (the Vikings era set up), the movie quickly deviates away from the period setting by taking us forward to present-day involving a teen.

The movie is devoid of scares and blood.

In fact Silver Bullet made years ago too involves a teen but it is brutal at times.

In this movie, most of the attack scenes r offscreen, so i don't understand the point of the title Viking Wolf.

Also the ending is a big meh. I don't understand the point of keeping it ambiguous cos I believe not many wud like a sequel considering this lousy effort.

  • A burnt out Santa getting hammered is over the top comedic.

I saw this few years ago.

Got pulled into seeing this cos of the director Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow 1 n 2).

Also the other factor was David Harbour who is basking in the fame of Stranger Things.

In this version of holiday themed horror movie, Santa rescues a rich family from the clutches of armed criminals.

Santa takes far more of a hammering than one wud expect.

I think people shud stop comparing all Home Invasion movies starring a child with Home Alone cos Home Alone was a copy of Games Over 1989, a French movie.

Also I am tired of people comparing all holiday themed movies to Die Hard.

The violence in this movie is done in a comedic way but there is tons of blood.

    Waiting for part 2.

  • Inspite of the similarities with other legendary horror movies, this is an effective thriller.

I saw this few years ago.

Got pulled into seeing this cos of the director Ryuhei Kitamura (having enjoyed Midnight Meat Train, No One Lives, Versus and Downrange). I hated The Doorman, a lousy action movie.

Also Stephen Dorff was another factor which pulled me into seeing this.

A robbery going bad, the robbers seeking refuge in a desolated farmhouse, the robbers encountering something darker n sinister.

    Does that ring a bell?

While Stephen Dorff is still in good shape, Emile Hirsch needs to start working out. There is no bone mass n muscle mass on this guy.

Similarities will eventually be with TCM n a bit of Barbarian n oh i forgot From Dusk till Dawn.

The movie is paced properly with some scary kills n good effects.

The movie is an effective, violent thriller with a good ending.

  • Fans of monster mayhem will certainly enjoy this.

I saw this few years ago on Amazon Prime.

I thot these underground bunkers, experimental human bio weapons, all these were shown in Nazi movies n to some extent former USSR but this time they set the settings in Afghanistan for conveniency.

I got pulled into this due to Neil Marshall.

Most of us enjoyed his Dog Soldiers, Descent n Doomsday but of lately he lost his charm.

Well this movie is action packed, lots of monster carnage, decent effects, good pace but nothing absolutely nothing memorable.

Gone are the days when testosterone filled guys like Arnold, Stallone, Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Steve McQueen, Eastwood, etc used to take down Nazi n company, bad Russians, monsters, etc but alas this women empowerment stuff is getting annoying regarding action/monster movies.

I wanted to rate it an 8 but reduced to 7 due to the unconvincing female lead.

  • Seek and thy shall find a good suspense movie.

I saw this few months ago on Netflix.

The movie has two stories n both r police procedural dramas with solid twist n engaging suspense.

The first story is told via flashback of a rookie cop Anand (Thomas) who is investigating the disappearance of a girl. The investigation leads Anand to a residence of a local priest. Considering the religious angle of the case and religious sensitivities, the cop is removed from the investigation... Back to the present Anand is assigned to investigate a cold murder case of a young woman.... This movie has tons of atmosphere, the rural settings is visually soothing n the performance by the lead Thomas is top notch.

  • The character of Giri shud b expanded.

I saw this few months back on Amazon Prime.

Got pulled into seeing this due to the director Joseph who gave the brilliant Dhrishyam franchise.

I enjoyed the movie due to the twists n turns n the rural settings.

The plot is about a junior cop Giri (Asif Ali) who is humiliated by his superior cops.

Giri takes revenge on the senior cops by robbing local homes in the night. This leads to pressure on the seniors. But in doing so Giri's kleptomania gets worse n he continues robbing. During one of his stint he witnesses a suicide n later more similar suicides happens which causes him to believe that it is a work of a serial killer.

The movie has a good unpredictable twist n is aided by the top notch performance by Asif Ali who plays Giri.

Another good thing is the cinematography.

The small hilly village with its mountains, terrains n houses were brilliantly captured.

The night scenes r shot in ample light so one can make out what's going on.

  • Good title but weak horror movie.

I first saw this in the early 90s on a vhs.

    Revisited it recently.

The movie is not at all scary or creepy and ther is nothing horror about it apart from a child molestation n child rape by a nun (both of which I found horrific n unbearable).

At least the other nunsploitation movie, Alucarda is creepy, has some horror scenes, dracula one, decapitation one n the Carrie style carnage during the end scene but this one has nothing to offer apart from the sensual lesbian smooch, beautiful cinematography n the beautiful Cecilia Pezet who doesn't hesitate to undress n show her boobs a lot in this film.

The devil describes the character of Cecilia that she will be tortured and one of the method will be her mouth will be filled with molten lead. The devil later tells Cecilia that after the molten lead torture, her body will b torn apart alive.

How can a person be still alive after his/her mouth being filled with molten lead?

This film inspired Salma Hayek's character Santanico Pandemonium in From Dusk Till Dawn.

  • The first half is downright creepy/spooky and the overall movie is very good.

I saw this last night on Netflix.

This movie was on my radar for so many years especially due to its creepy setting (big n isolated mansion) and even more creepy plot of that of a man released from mental asylum n who starts seeing things n is never quite sure if he's really seeing what he's seeing, and neither are we.

The mansion is elaborate, with all the rooms, hallways, pool, etc. The mansion acts as a character itself. The swimming pool is massive but the pool area is downright creepy.

The house and its contents, including the statue (a creepy Sphinx ) are meant to disorient Tom and the audience, making them question the line between reality and hallucination as the plot unfolds.

After having spent 20 years in a mental institution for a violent crime, Tom (Topher Grace) has just been confined/house arrest to his family mansion he inherited after his father committed suicide just few days before his release front the asylum. Tom has to spend 30 days all alone in the big mansion.

Tom sees his dead father n their dead dog. He also gets spooky calls with just heavy breathing.

  • Unnecessary nude exorcism.

I first saw this in the early 90s on a vhs.

    Revisited it recently.

Found it to be boring n repulsive.

Most of the time we see nuns screaming n running here n there.

We get to see tons of fire. The costumes of the nuns were very weird. The orgy n the nudity was uncalled for. Nobody in the right mind wud strip a woman n do exorcism.

The nudity is not at all sensual.

The film has atmosphere and it is a bit creepy but overall it ain't a strong horror movie.

The conclusion to Alucarda aka Sisters of Satan aka so many other titles reminds one of the carnage during the celebrated prom scene in Stephen King's Carrie.

  • Jackie as a punk gang leader ain't cool.

I saw this for the first time recently and it was an easy guess that this lousy movie was trying to cash in on the success of Rumble in the Bronx.

Jackie Chan is not a lead actor in this one. He plays a punk gang leader with a hairy nevus/face mole.

The film itself is boring, with not much of a story, and bad fight choreography.

Nothing memorable except for Jackie's face mole.

  • Amazing cinematography of the rural Spain n top notch performance by the lead character.

I saw this for the first time few days back immediately after reading a glowing review by Coventry. The review souded a bit similar to the recent Korean thriller Revelations which I enjoyed. After viewing i found the commonality was sympathy towards the killer due to his medical condition n people's ignorance.

Also both the films showcased the dangers of childhood trauma.

Another good thing in both the movies is that we feel empathy towards the killers due to their performances, of course the medical condition is the real deal.

In this movie José Luis López Vázquez as the peddler is very convincing and his performance gives the film an air of tragedy.

The movie tells the story of Romasanta, a 19th century, peddler who in real life claimed to have suffered lycanthropy as an excuse for the murders he committed.

  • This is a story of the future - not the future of space ships and men from other planets - but the immediate future.

I saw this version for the first time recently after watching the John Hurt version.

This version is mild compared to the John Hurt version.

In this version room 101 ain't that scary n the mice r never shown.

Also this one is not as bleak n dark like the John Hurt version.

We have Donald Pleasance as Parsons.

In this version too, both Winston n Julia r rehabilitated n both forget their love. Both confess to their betrayal but they bump into each other somewhere outside n not in Chestnut Tree café.

Winston is totally brainwashed n he accepts his love for Big Brother. Exactly from the book.

Interesting trivia: The character played by Sir Michael Redgrave is called "O'Brien" in the original novel, but, as Edmond O'Brien was cast as Winston Smith, the name was changed to "O'Connor" for this movie.

But this movie has an alternate ending An alternate ending was also shot and produced, in which Winston rebels against his brainwashing and starts to shout "Down with Big Brother!" before being shot down. Julia runs to his aid and suffers the same fate.

  • It's not so much staying alive, it's staying human that's important.

Saw this movie for the first time recently after having read the book now in 2025.

It is a solid adaptation of George Orwell's novel.

The director Radford succeeded in creating the book's physical description. A grimy, depressed industrial jungle, with telescreens looming over the scurrying citizens and announcers 24/7 spreading propaganda.

It was good to see Richard Burton as O'Brien, the Party official who tortures Smith into embracing Big Brother.

The highlight is John Hurt as Winston Smith, the frail-looking fella who works for the Ministry of Truth, who effectively rewrites history in newspaper articles to befit the current regime.

The description of the torture in room 101 is truly frightening, savage n like a worst nightmare. Room 101 contains each prisoner's worst fear and Smith's childhood fear is that of rats.

It's never shown, never depicted in the movie but just a description is uttered by OBrien.

"Two wild hungry rats waiting to pounce on a tied person (Smith's) face. OBrien says that the rats may attack the eyes first n maybe the cheeks later via which the rats will enter the mouth". Smith denounces Julia and pledges allegiance to the Party after the threat of the rat torture.

The book n this movie suggests that Julia is likewise subjected to her own worst fear, although it is not revealed what that fear is.

In this version both Winston n Julia r rehabilitated n both forget their love. Both confess to their betrayal.

Winston accepts his love for Big Brother. This ending matches the the book.

I enjoyed this thriller n inspite of the movie being more than 2 hours, it is entertaining due to the two leading actors n also due to the genre mash up. Comedy/crime/road movie, combined.

The editing gets a bit tad due to the flashback scenes n the sudden genre change.

The rural scenes r beautifully captured with the lush greenery n narrow roads. Some good cinematography.

  • This is worse than Manos the Hands of Fate.

Yeehaw! My earliest review which got more than 100 likes got deleted. Now do the math. Some fellas r burning.

The theatre was empty. This movie is appalling.

The Britishers gave us Indians education, railways, mannerisms. The Britishers transformed us into civilised humans from being savages. The Britishers abolished Sati.

The Mughals gave us beautiful n epic historical monuments. But this movie is a blatant lie and a propaganda

The direction is abysmal. The editing is horrendous and the screenplay flat atrocious.

Paresh Rawal is a great actor but what prompted him to star in this horrible movie is beyond me. Mayb he is bankrupt or maybe he has become a dog who wants to please his masters.

It's better to eat banana pudding from New York's Magnolia rather than spend money on this horrible movie.

  • How people justify their actions.

Got pulled into seeing this cos of the director, Yeon Sang-ho who is famous for Train to Busan.

The movie is mesmerizing and emotionally charged.

It has a gripping narrative, which maintains immersion from start to finish.

A missing girl, a vanished ex-convict, an obsessed detective and a devout pastor, a sure shot formula for a thrilling movie.

The film's success is driven by its remarkable performances. I m not well versed with Korean actors.

The guy who played the pastor is astonishing, portraying his gradual descent from a God loving pastor into sheer madness and obsession.

The female who played the detective gave a true performance of that a broken person, unable to forgive herself for her sister's fate.

But the best is the guy who played the criminal, a heavily broken n damaged fella n who simply cannot help himself in front of his dark impulse originated from his unspeakable childhood trauma. The guy will make u feel repulsive as well as u will pity for him.
