I'm up for a challenge most of the time but this is boring, inarticulate and near pointless. I give it two points for some of the scenery. I'm not saying you have to make strong statements with your films but gimme something?!

This is a deeply sensitive account of the survival of a young girl, alone, in the forest, during WW2, after her entire family is taken into a concentration camp.

It is based on Aharon Applefeld's novel by the same name, and in my opinion, it manages to be quite faithful to it.

Amos Gitai's style is subtle and understated, and this is precisely what gives the film its strength and deep impact.

As a character, Tsili is wonderfully crafted, managing to express a lot with very few words - which is precisely one of the important symbolic points of this movie: as her previous life disappears forever, Tsili loses the words to talk about it. She can't speak about her ordeal either.
