During San Diego Comic-Con, we had the privilege of sitting down with Alessandra Ferreri, the Head of Content at Wattpad. It was an excellent interview, providing valuable insights into Wattpad’s past and future. Alessandra began explaining how the company came to be. Wattpad started in the mid-2000s.

Alessandra explained that one of her favorite things about Wattpad is that it has turned into a community. “It blends a community aspect and a creative aspect. You can discuss the things you’re passionate about and receive feedback.”

Some of its Wattpad’s stories have been transformed into mainstream novels, TV series, and movies, such as the After and The Kissing Booth series. In January 2019, Wattpad launched its publishing division named Wattpad Books to ease the effort for its authors.

One of Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg's most underrated movies is set to hit a new streaming service later this summer, 14 years after its initial premiere. Super 8, makes a super entrance on Hulu next month.

Per Hulu, Super 8 will appear on the Disney-owned streaming platform beginning Aug. 1. Until its emergence on Hulu, Super 8 is largely available to rent or purchase on major digital platforms, including Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+.

Often compared to subsequent sci-fi sensation Stranger Things, Super 8 was written and directed by J.J. Abrams, with Spielberg co-producing the film alongside him through his Amblin Entertainment imprint. Lego has confirmed its first live-action television project, a Lego Friends musical special planned for 2026 and executive-produced by “High School Musical” veteran Kenny Ortega, following an initial report in Deadline.

Announced on 8 July, the production will begin shooting in London this August, marking the brickmaker’s most ambitious screen venture outside animation and feature films. Ortega said the invitation from the company “is an absolute honor,” adding that his family are committed Lego devotees. The Kissing Booth franchise might be one of the best examples of what you call the guilty pleasure genre of movies. None of the three films that was released from 2018 to 2021 were able to impress the critics or for that matter, many of its viewers. It would be incomprehensible for these movie-goers as to how the idea of The Kissing Booth 4 gets thrown around so much.

The movies follow friends Elle and Lee, played by Joey King and Joel Courtney, and how their relationship gets affected when Elle falls for Lee’s brother Noah, played by Jacob Elordi.

Interestingly there is no intimacy between Arjun and Pia until the rom-com’s closing moments when Ibrahim shows his co-star what a kisser he is.

Jacob Elordi is in early negotiations to star in Ridley Scott‘s post-apocalyptic thriller “The Dog Stars” for 20th Century, replacing Paul Mescal, who ran into scheduling issues. Mescal, who stars in Scott’s “Gladiator” sequel, had been poised to star in the film about a catastrophic flu virus that wipes out nearly all of humanity. But he was forced to drop out due to filming Sam Mendes‘ Beatles anthology.

Based on a 2012 novel by Peter Heller, the “Dog Stars” screenplay was written by Mark L. Smith (“Twisters”) and Christopher Wilkinson (“Ali”) and is expected to be Scott’s next film after a Bee Gees biopic for Paramount. If his deal closes, as is expected, Elordi would play a pilot named Hig who befriends a cranky gunman as they try to outlast a roaming band of scavengers called Reapers.
