Smiling Woman Birthday

This was a strange experience, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. The early parts of this horror short are a collection of the most clichéd horror tropes ever. Then there's a brief moment of originality-though nothing we haven't seen before-before it slips back into another set of clichés.

I get the feeling the whole short might actually be an intentional homage to the horror genre. It's as if the filmmaker took all the overused clichés and pieced them together to create a story built entirely on them.

That said, it works. And why wouldn't it? If these clichés didn't work, they wouldn't have become popular in the first place.
