This definitely just topped the worst movie this year. If you wanna learn what not to do with a movie watch this. It felt like a film that was made from a middle school class. Some of the worst acting. No redeeming factors coming out of this. Don't waste your time. Fair warning! Another movie 2025 dump this don't even deserve 1 star honestly.

This film is nothing short of incredible-especially when you realize it was written, directed, produced, and acted entirely by teenagers. The scares are smart, the story is tight, and the atmosphere is genuinely chilling. The performances are raw and believable, and the cinematography and sound design are shockingly professional. It's rare to see this level of creativity, vision, and execution at any age-let alone from such a talented and passionate young team. Truly impressive work.

An inspiring, terrifying, and unforgettable debut. Horror fans-do not miss this. I can't wait to see was will come next for David and his career as a filmmaker!!!

This is not a good movie, definitely... But it has so much love in it that it's impossible for me not to love it.

The acting is maybe the worst part and some of the script is weird, but it is a low budget independent film made with friends. It is well directed and some scene are actually excellent and the idea of the maple is very beautiful and fascinating.

I loved the soundtrack and the amount of violence is perfect.

The mask of the serial killer is gorgeous (too bad at one point it is very visible it is made of plastic).

I really enjoyed myself and I am really looking forward for new films by David Saban!

PS: the end credits are a love song to horror movies and I loved it!

This movie is a moral failure. What I mean is this movie should have never been made, I can't believe it actually was put onto any streaming service. No hate to hate actors, line delivery was fine. My issue is with the writing. The plot is actually pretty interesting, but the dialogue and execution is abysmal. Also the only black guy in the movie died immediately after his only 10 second appearance which I for one really didn't like. That happens in a lot of slasher movies so if it's supposed to be a reference or joke it's in bad taste. Also some of the content was kind of weird/fetishy if that makes sense?

By the way the cover/thumbnail is ai generated, Poorly at that. Come on david, you can do better.

Making OPEN was a dream I've had since I first worked at a summer camp. This is my first feature film, and every frame of it was built from the ground up with creativity and more late nights than I can count. As a student filmmaker, I wanted to prove that even without a big crew or budget, you can still make something bold, scary, and personal. From building sets like the hospital to blending practical and visual effects, to composing the score myself, I poured everything I had into this film. OPEN is my love letter to the horror comedy genre, and I hope it keeps you up at night just like it did for me while making it.
