Merry Little Batman Gets Exciting Update With New Poster and Premiere Date
Image
Christmas arrives early at Gotham with a confirmed December release of the DC animation adventure Merry Little Batman.

Batman fans eagerly anticipating the release of Merry Little Batman are in for an early Christmas treat. Prime Video announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the animated film premieres on Dec. 8. The update came with a description that might surprise franchise fans, saying "This holiday season, join Batman, Alfred Pennyworth, and young Damian Wayne in an epic adventure to save Christmas in Gotham City." An earlier tease of the movie's plot suggested Damian Wayne fending off crooks and supervillains alone in Wayne Manor on Christmas Eve. This leaves the X post open for interpretation as to the extent of Batman and Alfred's involvement in the adventure.

The other week we saw "Batman: Strange Days," an animated short celebrating the character's 75th Anniversary and inspired by the classic 1990s "Batman: The Animated Series".

Now, another has been created - this time inspired by the "Batman Beyond" animated series which ran from 1999-2001. Kevin Conroy and Will Friedle reprise their iconic voices for the short which will air after an episode of Teen Titans on Cartoon Network this Wednesday.

Yahoo have released a sneak peek below and it seems the short also pays tribute to various other Batman show from the Adam West era to the post-btas cartoons.

Relish the Horror Adventure of Bruce Timm’s 75th Anniversary Batman Short
Why Watch? Bruce Timm is one of those people who gets Batman. He’s got a marrow-deep understanding of who the character is, what he’s capable of, and what he evokes. Of course he’s also worked extensively with Batman for two decades. Since this year marks the 75th anniversary of the shadowy hero, Timm has animated a Casablanca-evoking short film that trades on horror classics (Mad Scientist, Monstrous Henchman, Kidnapped Damsel) while turning Batman into Sky Captain with 20% of the pastiche. The details are all important in this swift adventure. The fighting, the determination, the fear. Batman: Strange Days at once feels like it could play after a WWII newsreel and like it belongs firmly in the present. It’s also a nice reminder of why Bruce Wayne’s hometown is called Gotham. Now how about a new short starring Freakazoid? The people demand it. For now, enjoy this new/old Batman adventure. What...

Stunning Batman: Strange Days Animated Short
You've got to watch this amazing Batman animated short from producer Bruce Timm. It's called Batman: Strange Days, and it was made in celebration of Batman's 75th anniversary.

The short is described as "a lost tale from Batman's past, the Dark Knight tracks a strange giant to the mysterious lair of Dr. Hugo Strange."

I absolutely love the the 1940s film noir and horror atmosphere that is has. It's actually based on the earliest version of Batman, and they set the story in that era. I also like how Dr. Hugo Strange was used as the villain because he was Batman's first real supervillain in the comics.

This made me really miss Batman: The Animated Series. I would love to see a new series with this setting and style. ...

Batman turns 75 in May. Parent company Warner Bros. plans to celebrate this anniversary by continuing to produce ridiculously successful Batman movies, TV shows, videogames, comic books, and pogs, or whatever kids today play with.

But also, they’ve just released a new short animated film created by the great Bruce Timm — the animation guru who was a key architect in the family of DC animated shows, including all-time-great Batman: The Animated Series and the maybe-better-if-you-don’t-mind-the-future Batman Beyond. The short is called Batman: Strange Days, and features Hugo Strange (get it?) and a lot of fog. Watch it below:...
