Avis à la une
About halfway through, I asked myself whether the writer(s) was going for straight romance or romcom. At the end of the movie, I could not give myself an answer. If it was intended as romance the amount of stupid cheese inserted into the screenplay obliterates the ability to feel the romance building. The drama elements also came across as petty, things that normal people could easily solve. If it was intended as romcom, it also fails to deliver the clever type of humor that makes for a good romcom. The 'comedy' was grade school level and did not even pertain to the romance.
I have seen Jarred Harper act the cool, smooth guy in several other short romances. Here he appears as more corny than cool, more unsure than smooth. Not his finest project.
Sammie Reyes came across better than Harper, although I doubt a real world woman forgives any guy for a six month ghosting after a night in bed. She has one rockin' bod though.
The casting of Harper and Reyes together could have made for a very engaging romance. Their chemistry was good on the few occasions it was in play. But, I guess casting can't save an uninspired screenplay.

This movie had potential, but the casting made it difficult to fully engage with the story. The biggest issue was the female lead-she was supposed to be cute and effortlessly charming, but the actress had such a strong, commanding presence that it completely altered the film's tone. Rather than fitting naturally into a romantic role, she exuded an intensity that felt more suited for a warrior queen in an epic battle film than a lighthearted love story. Her powerful energy clashed with the softness and warmth the character required, making it hard to buy into the romance.
The lack of chemistry between the two leads only made things worse. In a romance film, the emotional connection between the main characters is crucial, but here, it felt forced and unconvincing. The male lead did his part well, but their dynamic was completely off. Instead of a natural progression of emotions, their interactions felt awkward and mismatched, making it difficult to root for their relationship.
This miscasting also affected the overall flow of the film. The lighthearted, romantic tone that the movie aimed for didn't come through because the balance between the leads was off. Even key emotional moments felt unsteady, making it difficult to get fully invested in their story. At times, I could see what the film was trying to achieve, but the execution just didn't work due to the casting choices.
By the end, I couldn't shake the feeling that the movie could have been so much better with different leads. The cinematography and soundtrack were decent, and the concept itself wasn't bad, but when the main characters don't click, it's hard to overlook. It was frustrating to sit through, and I left feeling disappointed, knowing that better casting would have made a huge difference.
