Unbearable

I literally just made an IMDb account so I could write this review... and say how absolutely insufferable the obnoxious Gen Z-er with hashtags for brains is. Not exaggerating-with every single line she, or her token friend spoke, I grew more nauseous. I've never been so irritated by a bratty character as I was trying to watch this film. I would've even been able to overlook the preposterously unbelievable plot and exaggerated use of social media and phone cameras in general enough to sit through a whole hour if not for this incessant nagging little sprite that someone apparently thought would add value.

Keep your brains aside and it's good

Nothing extraordinary here. Keep your brains aside and just look it as an action flick and you'll like it. Kept me full of fun throughout and it goes without saying, Aaron is a great actor so just sit back and look at it like an action movie, and you'll enjoy it. Not going to give it a 10 cos there are way too many loopholes which makes the script writing slipshod.

Good movie to kill some time on a Sunday for sure!

Crazy stupid plotline

Just amazed how stupid the girl is.... Bad effects, bad acting, just not believable at all. Aaron is a good action actor but this was really a big lost of time...

Throwback 90's action flick

It was like watching 'Speed' but without the chemistry of the actors.

Garbage

One has to question the intelligence of whomever approves these scripts and plots. Implausible plot, continuity errors, bad jokes, not the greatest cast of actors. Combined, it stank on ice. It was plain stupid. Once again proving that nobody cares about the films they release. Instead, they depend on a stars name to try and sell the crap to the public. Thanks for nothing!

80's style action.....

Lots of comments saying Line of Duty is implausible and low brow. Maybe but is that less true of other action flicks, like the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon franchises? Mission Impossible or James Bond films?

For me this is a well executed throw back to 80's style action films. Its heavy handed with its action scenes which comes thick and fast. Its a buddy team up film, with decent chemistry. Its utterly over the top with really silly stunts, crashes, explosions, weapons and more. It has a corny sense of humour.

One thing it also is, is "FUN". Its superficial entertainment and if done well, as is the case here, there is nothing wrong with the guilty pleasure this film represents. Just as there is nothing wrong with a few beers, potato chips, dip and take away's.

Film snobs will hate this movie. I really enjoyed it and hope to see more like it. 7/10 from me.

Cringe to the max

Aaron Eckhart is great to watch, but he couldn't save this one from major cringe factors. The two female internet reporters are so clichéd and every single line they uttered made me cringe to the max. They really added nothing to the plot, nor did the entire media narrative element of this story. What's the takeaway? The media are terrible? Or great? Or all women reporters are...? I honestly don't know what the point of it all was. Even the big bad network anchor-another disappointing female character-made me roll my eyes every second she was onscreen because she and everything around her were just so unbelievable. I suspect the executive producers had a hand in injecting some female characters in what might have otherwise been an entertaining action flick; they ruined it. Aaron Eckhart is the one who got the short end of the stick on this. I hope he got paid well.

Well, I liked it!

I see that the majority of the user comments here are very negative, along the line of "worst movie ever made!" But while this is not one of the best action/thriller movies made in the past few decades, this effort can still stand its head up proudly next to them. Yes, I will admit that the characters occasionally make some dumb decisions, though considering that this is a race against time, it does make sense that these pressured characters would make the occasional mistake. The Internet angle to the movie does also give a slight implausible edge to the narrative, though at the same time it's an interesting look at live streaming and Internet amateur sleuthing - we both get a negative and positive look at these modern things. While there may be some other problems, the movie remains buoyant because after the set-up, the movie becomes a relentless and fast-paced exercise in action and suspense. Any flaws of the movie are more than compensated for by the excitement generated. Getting back to those negative IMDb reviewers, as someone who has been around the cinematic block way more times than the average person, I can say with 100% certainty that there are MANY WORSE action/suspense movies than this one. I think if you sit down with the expectation of being like on a rollercoaster - nothing cerebral, but exciting from start to finish all the same - there is more likely a chance you'll like this movie.

Genuinely the worst movie I've ever seen

4 minutes in and we were shaking our heads. 6 minutes in, we were tutting. 15 minutes in we discussed turning it off. Stuck it out. It only got worse.

WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS S**T TO GET MADE

Who writes this and says - "yup, that's a great script!"

Who edits this and says "happy with this, let's release it"...

Clearly nobody related to this movie has any shame. One to scrub from the cv

Ruined by some stupid chasing scenes and bad directing

Aaron Eckhart is one of the best and most talented actors. No matter what kind of role he played, he just looked the part, the real deal. He played an uniformed cop in this movie and just looked like a cop.

What I have to point out is the bad chasing scenes when he and the kidnapper No.1 like Marathon runners...eh, well, more like supermen. They kept running so long but didn't seem to be tired or even got short breath. Usually, no matter how your cardio condition might be, running so long and still got the strength to fight was just impossible. The chasing scene was just over-the-top ridiculous. I don't know where the kidnapper hid his gun, but during the running, he got no problem to have knife and gun suddenly pulled out like magician is another ridiculous and highly unlikely stupid arrangement. When he ran, we didn't see any place on his body show that he's carrying a knife or a gun, yet he could pull a knife or gun from nowhere.

The thing I hated most when watching a movie was when the director treated us like blind moron. There's no way both guys could run so long and still got the energy and strength to fight, after running so long and so hard, both should be collapsed right away if they stopped. Courtney Eaton played the annoying naive, shallow and self-righteous Ava Brooks role is another reason that made me feel so disgusted. A role that's just felt so ridiculous.

Aaron Eckhart - great acting

Ok guys, this is a straight up action flick. Aaron Eckhart delivers his role at 100 % as he always does. The writing and storyline could have been tweaked a bit better on developing characters. Ben McKenzie ( Southland) does a great job as a guy with a grudge. Not an academy award movie but worth a watch.

So-so but passable thriller with non-stop action from start to finish.

Better than expected thriller and suspense movie with a good cast and intriguing events. An uneven thriller with its highs and lows that provides enough movement and tense to have a good time if you don't think too much about the inadequacies of the script and some ridiculous situations that occur. This action film with thriller overtones was professionally directed by Steven C. Miller. Dealing with a disillusioned and hardened Frank Penny (Aaron Eckhart) is a cop who accidentally kills the suspect of kidnapping the boss's (Giancarlo Esposito) daughter. With the personal guilt of having ruined the only clue that there was of the kidnapping, Frank begins a relentless search and a race against time to save her. But to find the girl Frank will need the help of Ava Brooks (Courtney Eaton), whose live-streaming news channel is broadcasting Frank's every move. The only hope of saving the kidnapped girl now falls on a rogue agent. The clock is ticking !. The world is watching !.

In the picture there's frenetic action , tension , suspense and a little bit violence when the murders happen. From start to finish the nonstop action is continued, it is fast moving and that's why it is entertaining enough. This mindless, twisted and briefly interesting film is packed with thrills, suspense, tension and lots of interminable action. Strong and violent battle of wits between two main characters: Aaron Eckhart and Ben McKenzie work out pretty well, at times; however, the relationship between Eckhart and Courtey Eaton is completely implausible. Aaron Eckhart stars in this action thriller based on a script by Jeremy Drysdale and technically well directed by action film specialist Brian C. Miller. Witty but uneven plot that dispenses excitement as well as entertainment . In fact, Line of Duty¨ is reduced to non-stop fighting and shooting from start to finish. Eckhart known for playing Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight, Giancarlo Exposito (Breaking Bad), Dina Meyer (Starship troopers), Ben McKenzie (The O. C., The report , Gotham) are the protagonists of this thriller with unstoppable action.

As a trivia, several members of the cast have appeared in alternative versions of the Batman universe, Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent in 'Dark Knight' , Dina Meyer as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon in 'Birds of Prey' and Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon in the 'Gotham' series.

It displays atmospheric cinematography by Brandon Cox, mostly shot in Birmingham, Alabama,USA. As well as thrilling and pulsing musical score by The Newton Brothers. The motion picture was unevenly and professionally directed by Brian C. Miller but there is nothing special about it . He is known for directing action films and has been nominated for his movies at international festivals such as SXSW Film Festival and Toronto After Dark Film Festival. Miller has directed various action and terror films, usually played by famous actors, without much success and limited commercial career, such as: ¨Arsenal, First Kill, Escape plan 2: Hades, Margaux, Marauders , Submerged , Extraction , Under the bed , The agression Scale, Scream of the Banshee , Automaton transfusion¨, among others. Rating Line of duty : 5.5/10, acceptable and passable thriller movie . The picture will appeal to frenetic action buffs .

Why?

Aaron Eckhart is a great actor, so why? Was it the money?

All I can say is that Die Hard was a great movie, this is an attempt to try something like it, and, it fails again and again and again. What a pity that Aaron Eckhart added his name to this totally 'over done', 'over acted'. 'cringefest of a movie'.. was this a high school project and one of the kids Mothers or Fathers knows Aaron Eckhart? By the way, if that is the case, then it's brilliant!

From start to finish it's just plain bad, worst than bad, it is dreadful.. Hanging in there to see if it gets better is a tactic I applied to this movie; didn't.

Synopsis: 90 minutes you WILL NEVER get back.

A hell of a rollercoaster ride.

Aaron Eckhart and Giancarlo Esposito, what's not to like about this movie?

Non-stop action and non-stop observations about the world we live in - both on the funny and more serious side.

Great one-liners and tongue and cheek humour.

Everything I wish for in a movie: original plot, some life lessons and, ah yes, redemption.

I loved every minute of it.

So bad you have to keep watching!

I've only given this a 2* because it is truly atrocious but it is one of those films that is so bad you have to keep watching it because it gets unintentionally funnier as it goes on - hence the extra star.

It also sums up current society about being social media obsessed "get the phone out for likes" quite well! Chucks in classic lines like "you're gonna die today cop.... What do you want.. you killed my brother... well he was a bad guy... oh your mothers a b*tch!" Pure Art that script writing!

Has the potential to be a cult b movie bargain bucket buy in 10 years!
