"Octopus Heart" wasn't what I expected, but it surprised me in a profound way. The interview-style format, with a son courageously questioning his mother about her past, unfolds into something deeply revealing. It delivers a striking realization of a life-threatening case of Broken Heart Syndrome in the second part of the documentary.

However, it's important to note that the mother speaks in broken English, which, combined with her visible emotional wounding, can make parts of the story harder to follow. Yet, this vulnerability adds authenticity and rawness to the narrative.
