This game includes the "Quantum Break" TV series in the game. The actions of the characters in the series will be dependent on the player's action during the game.

The game opens with a taxi almost hitting a pedestrian. Remedy's previous game, Alan Wake (2010) opens with the protagonist actually hitting a pedestrian.
Originally, the game was planned to focus on multiple main characters with different time based powers. You can see hints of one of those cut characters in the game's announcement trailer. In the final game you mostly control Jack, but you will briefly play as Paul in certain scenes.
