Aspiring samurai Yaiba trains in a jungle with his father Kenjuro and a tiger pal. They unexpectedly end up in Japan and stay with Kenjuro's friend.

Yaiba torments Onimaru in an attempt to bait him into a duel. Onimaru refuses to fight - until Shonosuke ransacks his beloved pigeon pen.

After being defeated by Onimaru, Yaiba resolves to get stronger and heads to the mountains in hopes of obtaining a magical sword of his own.
