Evolution of the Black Quarterback

Great documentary. For those that don't know the history, at one point it was commonly believed that black men didn't have the compression skills to be QB. It was supposed to be too fast and too cerebral for a young black man to understand the complexities of being a leader on the field. I highly recommend folks to check it out. Growing up seeing a black QB made me and I'm sure plenty of other black kids believe we could be anything. I grew up watching Warren moon and Randall Cunningham and Rodney peete. Seeing someone who looked like us acting as coach on the field made us feel noticed. Must see.

Good info and informative, especially for the younger viewers. They need to know the names Cunningham, Moon, and Williams. While the series contains many interviews with impactful black players, it feels like a 3 episode love fest for Michael Vick...I mean it's over the top. No disrespect to Vick's game but another, less controversial, QB could've been used as the host. Vick should've definitely been included as an interview and highlight...but another host would've been better.

I thought this would be a great watch. There have been so many talented black quarterbacks, and watching the position go from white only to black defined has been inspirational. But why select Michael Vick of all people to present it? I'm not denying he was a talented athlete, but he's a horrible human being and his association with the project left a sour taste in my mouth, as I'm sure it did and will for many viewers. It's like choosing Jerry Sandusky to present a documentary about Penn State football. Clearly the producers are reconciled to what Vick represents. I'm not. If you don't care about Vick, then it's a great watch.
