While Cameron's film is slick and exciting, the "Alien" series -- for me -- has always functioned better when it hovers in the realm of terror, fear, and death. The alien Xenomorphs, designed by Swiss surrealist H.R. Giger, are better movie monsters when they are ineffable, strange, and off-putting. The title of Scott's film is both a noun and an adjective, describing a biological horror that the film's human protagonists can barely understand. 

When standing in front of a Gigerian nightmare from beyond the stars -- one made of aspic, teeth, and remixed human genitals -- one shouldn't be holding a gun shouting clichéd movie dialogue like "Let's rock.

James Cameron goes into detail on what he would've done if Aliens were filmed today. Released in 1986, the movie came after Ridley Scott's 1979 classic, Alien, as the second installment in the franchise. Set in a distant future, the sequel follows Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), the sole survivor of the alien attack in the flagship installment.

While talking to Jake Hamilton, Cameron shared how he'd approach the Alien Queen's design in his 1986 movie if it were made now. The filmmaker admitted that he would use CGI to create the Alien Queen's figure and revealed that they had to make "a lot of forced cuts" so the character would work on camera.

For decades, anime has portrayed deeper emotional moments with the help of supernatural or action-packed narratives, but very few have explored the emotion of depression with nuance, variety, and honesty, except To Be Hero X. While other anime treat topics like mental health as a monolithic experience, this story represt it through its characters, who embody different forms of emotional struggles. Amongst the different characters present in the series, Lin Ling, Yang Cheng, and Queen are the ones who reflect the aspects of depression in the most clear form.

What makes them stand out from the rest is how To Be Hero X does not overly dramatize the character’s pain. They find a way to normalize them, offering insights on what real depression looks like when it isn’t visible, when it festers, or when it isolates. This quality of storytelling doesn’t just make the anime powerful; it also makes it painfully relatable.

To Be Hero X is one of the most popular series of the current times, and for good reason. The Chinese donghua had built a tremendous hype among fans long before it even started airing.

In fact, the expectations for it were soaring so high that it even made many question whether the series would be able to truly deliver on that once it hits the screens. Thankfully, To Be Hero X has done that and more with each episode and arc being greater than the one before. That is, until the series reached the Queen Arc.

Russell Crowe has officially signed on to star alongside Henry Cavill in the upcoming Highlander reboot, Collider reports. Directed by Chad Stahelski, known for the John Wick movies, this new version of Highlander is finally moving forward after nearly a decade in development, with filming planned to start this fall.

Stahelski has shared that this reboot won’t simply retell the 1986 original. Instead, it will expand the story, taking it from the Scottish Highlands in the 1500s to modern cities like New York and Hong Kong. He described the movie as action-packed and said it will include a love story, “but not how you think.”

The journey to this point has been long and complicated. Summit Entertainment acquired the rights back in 2008, and over the years, many writers, directors, and actors were attached and then left the project. Directors like Justin Lin, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and Cedric Nicolas-Troyan were all involved at different times.

Horror fans were buzzing about Leigh Janiak's R.L. Stine adaptations, which became a minor cultural event. You'd think Netflix would ride that hype into future entries, right? Unfortunately, Matt Palmer's Fear Street: Prom Queen is slinking onto Netflix with little fanfare, as is the company's typical hushed (aka non-existent) release strategy. Even more unfortunate, Fear Street: Prom Queen is an underwhelming follow-up that lacks the presence and bite of Janiak's far superior trifecta—Fear Street by name, but unexceptional and sophomoric by comparison.

An even gorier “Heathers” crowned in the pitch-black comedy era of “Bottoms,” “Fear Street: Prom Queen” is anchored in the same vicious and girly roots as the original film trilogy from 2021 — albeit missing some of the scope and style inherent to Leigh Janiak’s three-part slasher epic.
