Avis à la une
This is a family movie and typical tamil drama ( that is it is lot of emotions, loud bgms, pretty illogical behaviour and a whole heap of cliches)
So I had clear perception going into the movie and the movie had all - a bit too cliched and climax and pre- climax was ridiculously over dramatic ( worse than TV soaps )
The highlight of the movie has been the performances - Soori, Aishwarya Lakshmi and Swasika and the surprise package of Baba Bhasker all were really good - especially Soori and Baba Bhasker (though his screen time low )
Had the pre-climax be better and ending a bit more paced ( it happens too suddenly - the whole section of pre-climax around their grandparents could have been trimmed or excluded and given more depth and detail to the resolution) - the movie would have been above average.

Maaman is not just a film - it's an emotion many of us grew up with but never put into words. The story of an uncle's silent sacrifices and unconditional love for his nephew is something deeply rooted in Indian families. It doesn't try to be flashy; it wins you over with truth, warmth, and heart.
Soori gives a performance full of soul - no overacting, just real pain and pure love. The little boy, Laddu, lights up the screen with innocence, and Aishwarya Lekshmi brings balance with strength and softness. The background score is subtle yet stirs something deep inside.
This is a film that speaks to your heart without shouting. It makes you smile through your tears and reminds you of the quiet heroes in our lives - those who love us more than themselves.
If you've ever been loved silently, or loved someone without expecting anything back - Maaman will stay with you long after the credits roll.

I watched Maaman and it touched my heart in a very personal way. The bond shown between the uncle and the child reminded me of my own uncle, who sadly passed away. Watching this film brought back so many memories of the love, care, and protection he gave me. I couldn't stop thinking about him throughout the movie.
The film beautifully captures the importance of a thaimaman's love - a love that is often pure, selfless, and deeply emotional. Soori's performance felt real and relatable. It's not just a story, but a feeling for those who grew up close to their uncles.
This movie made me smile, cry, and most importantly, feel grateful for the time I had with my uncle. I truly miss him. Thank you to the makers of Maaman for showing such a meaningful relationship on screen.

This film feels like a relic from a bygone era, clinging to outdated tropes and lifeless storytelling. The pacing drags unbearably, stretching simple scenes into tedious endurance tests. Dialogue is packed with clichés, making interactions painfully predictable. The characters lack depth, stumbling through forced melodrama. Attempts at comedy fall flat, inducing more secondhand embarrassment than laughter. Predictable twists and contrived conflicts make it exhausting to watch. Ultimately, it's a tiresome ordeal, best avoided unless nostalgia blinds you to its glaring flaws. I don't know why many people gave good rating to this movie, they should try to understand the new generation and give a movie like that.
A heartfelt family drama starring Soori, who gives his all as a devoted uncle. His performance is genuine, funny, and deeply emotional. Aishwarya Lekshmi shines as his wife, adding warmth and realism. The bond between Soori and his nephew Laddu is touching, but the story also shows how love needs balance. Prasanth Pandiyaraj's direction keeps things grounded in rural life. Music by Hesham Abdul Wahab enhances every emotion. Though reviews were mixed, the film delivers solid acting, meaningful themes, and a lovable family message. Every character was portrayed with so much depth and sincerity that it felt incredibly real and relatable. The emotions in this movie are raw, honest, and beautifully expressed, making it a truly emotional rollercoaster for the viewer. It's worth watching for its sincerity.
