I will never get tired of saying, this show is a MASTERPIECE. THEIR CHEMISTRY IS TOP NOTCH. THEIR ACTING IS SUPERB. I MUST SAY THEY ARE LITERALLY ONE OF THE FINEST ACTORS. I did not know that I would be hooked with this series ever since I saw it's trailer poster on tiktok. But this series got my heart from the very start starting from the talented actors down to the storyline. I have just recently finished reading the novel and I could see the similarities in the flow of the storyline but with some changes as to pace the series since it will only have 12 episodes. I just hope that the ending for this series will be satisfactory depending on whether it will have another season or not. And if it will really have another season, I hope that they will retain LDQ and BT as Sheng Wang and Jiang Tian, respectfully.

Mainstream media often overlook LGBTQ+ audiences or, worse, represent them poorly. Programs like The On1y One remind us that we deserve stories that are respectful and engaging. This series is a beautiful example of how LGBTQ+ stories can be told with heart, without reducing them to stereotypes. It's a positive step towards more authentic, high-quality content for the community.

The performances of Liu Dong Qin and Benjamin Tsang deserve special mention. Both actors bring incredible depth to their roles. Liu Dong Qin, his performance is vulnerable yet strong, creating a character that viewers can root for and identify with. Benjamin Tsang complements this perfectly, adding layers to his performance that make the onscreen relationship believable and impactful. The chemistry between the two is electric, and it is their performances that make the difference. The raw emotion they bring to their roles has made this series not only a visual delight, but a roller coaster of emotions.

The On1y One not only explores a budding romantic relationship, but also addresses issues of self-discovery, family bonds and the challenges of dealing with societal expectations. It offers viewers a nuanced look at the characters' internal struggles, which makes their journey seem authentic and relatable. Although The On1y One has a few episodes left to air, the run so far has been nothing short of exceptional. It's rare to find a series that manages to capture both emotional intensity and realistic storytelling within the BL genre, and this one delivers on both fronts. If the show maintains this level of quality through to the end, there is no doubt that we fans will demand a continuation of this story.

I only chanced upon this drama series after hearing the same title theme song by 831 on 23 August 2024. This new song is so good that prompted me to look up on the background of this song - which is this drama series.

The first episode was slow, but when you watch the following episodes, you would understand the story flow. At the time of this review, I have watched 6 episodes - and i can tell you, i have in sum watched at least 5 times because the director has put in so much effort in creating little nuances among the 2 main characters - and the build up of their relationship. A great series!

I am already looking forward to the next 6 episodes.

I must say, it does not put justice to the entire team for not having much marketing effort to promote this superb series. This great series must be shared to more people!

Kudos to the team and the two main characters for making such series possible. Hopefully, we can have a season 2.
