Animated parody for kids and adults

If you aren't tipped off by its title, PLANET OF THE BUGGS is a lighthearted parody of the culture of the mid 20th century recreated in a world of bugs. An animated romp through California surfer movies, to Happy Days and The Godfather, it has fun paying homage to the themes and characters of the time, complete with the period music. It is great as a family movie because it has bits based on true facts, like Dred, the Praying Mantis, who hides from his wife (female Praying Mantis bite the heads off the male after mating). Adults will recognize all the movie references that the kids will miss. The Godfrogger and his henchmen are a hoot.
