Aru Majo ga Shinu Made

This anime series is centred on Meg Raspberry, a young witch. On her seventeenth birthday she is informed that due to a curse she has only one more year to live! If she is to break the curse she must collect one thousand 'tears of joy' within the next year. She sets about this seemingly impossible task. It will see her helping many people and meeting some of the greatest witches. Inevitably she will learn a lot about herself along the way.

I thought this was a fun little series. The sort one enjoys while watching but probably doesn't revisit... of course a series has to be really special to earn a re-watch now one has access to so many shows for the cost of a streaming subscription. The characters are good; it is refreshing to have a series with no obvious antagonist. The final episode does feel more like a season finale than a real ending; hopefully there will be another season in due course. Overall I think this is worth a watch if you like a fairly gentle series; it will probably put a smile on your face.

Meg, the core protagonist of the show, is extremely charismatic. She's a neat mix of fierce and silly, but also a selfless, kind-hearted soul that is always willing to help. And even in the face of her rather grim fate, this unlucky girl finds the strength to fight back with joyful defiance.

To escape her prophesized death, the young witch has a year to collect enough magic tears by helping people in need. It may sound like a simple and predictable premise, but the show avoids getting stale, often going in unexpected directions, mixing whimsy and tragedy in equal sizes.

This aspect is even underlined in the chosen theme songs. The opening is cute and cheerful, while the ending theme, composed by Yuki Kajiura, drowns you with its haunting melancholy.

The story doesn't have a resolute ending (the novels are still ongoing), but just for Meg's antics alone this anime deserves to be seen - like a storm she's certainly going to leave her mark on the magical world.

Last time saw witch anime is classic Ghibli Kiki, now comes one best since the witch n the beast.

With awesome last name Raspberry, Shortcawhat now loving this moe is actually funny, endearing n coming of age.

Raspberry is my witch from her goofiness to understanding how magic is used n how do it, she got lot on her plate. N mastered all the way.

Been haven't my chuckles on since Cool guy n her girlfriend, best moe of season.

To conclude don't miss out on this it got heart n lots laughs trope that deserves, main not be way awesome as Witchwatch but got that slice of life vibe that makes it so irresistible.
