THE STANLEY PARABLE (2013) was a truly fun and hilarious game, though it undoubtedly falls more under the category for comedic walking simulators and visual narrative experiences rather than the expected traditional games. Don't expect typical puzzles and action here. Regardless, it was truly a great experience!

Stanley is an average office employee that suddenly becomes aware that he is alone in his office building. Meanwhile an omnipotent narrator tries to guide Stanley through the story, but free-will gets in the way and causes crazy outcomes. It's a bit like Ground Hog Day in the sense of it being repetitive but also unpredictable based on the choices you make, however this game's AI is also extremely self-aware and very humorous. The humor is pretty satirical and sarcastic. There's so many hidden aspects to this game. And it was definitely worth the play. Overall, this was a super fun and crazy game! Worth a chance, especially if you enjoy non-traditional gaming, walking simulators and tons of comedy!

This is not a game, don't go in expecting copious amounts of balls to the walls action. Instead this is more of an interactive mockumentary about video games ad everyday life. The narrator does an exceptional job of hooking you in and rarely gets boring or repetitive, he is a lot like GladOs from the portal games. Your objective is to either do what you are instructed to or disobey the narrator to try and create your own destiny. The brilliance of the team behind it makes sure each decision or move you make plays out differently and that is the beauty of Stanley Parable. If you wanted to play something that will make you laugh and smile while being true to its form pick up the Stanley parable I guarantee you won't regret it.

If video games ever went down that path, they'd probably feel like The Stanley Parable, a dissection of video game tropes and narrative, spun quite well into a fun little walking simulator that also messes with your head more than a quarter gram of LSD. You wander aimlessly, listening to a stranger narrate your every move, except its not aimless, and the narrator is making you do things, and you cant explain it, so you restart, and try another path. Or so you think. And it goes on and on darn near forever until you finally figure out the only way to win is not to play. That's only one of about 40 endings you can find. There's even an achievement for NOT playing the game, because that's the kind of insanity this one is going for.

Go for a trip, see you in the fall, and don't let the automatic closing door hit your ass on the way out.

It's a bit overrated, but I can see why people go there - we're starved for original content and this is it. I'm really looking forward to playing the Ultra Deluxe edition if it ever comes out, getting tired of waiting really...

In any case, this 2013 version of the game is super fun for a few hours. While the commentary on freedom in videogames is shallow, it's better than nothing, and the narrations will keep you company and entertain you as you explore all there is to this game.

I actually explored a bit too much, I guess, since I found several legit bugs and errors. But hey. As far as indie games go, this is one of the greatest.
