Peachfuzz Is Creepier Than Ever

The Creep Tapes are out 7 years after the release of the 2nd film. It is a weekly show with the first 2 episodes out now on Shudder. Mark Duplass is back as the charming and disturbing serial killer "Peachfuzz" and he doesn't disappoint. Patrick Brice is also back to direct, which I am happy about. Patrick and Mark seem to make a great duo for this franchise. Personally, I am not typically a fan of found footage movies and shows. I'm not crazy about "Paranormal Activity" or "The Blair Witch Project", but with the CREEP franchise it just drew me in. Throughout the movies and the show, one thing it does so well is making the viewer feel uncomfortable and that is due to the superb acting by Mark. I hope we get to see him in more horror movies, he is meant for them. Each episode is a new victim, so it is fast paced. If you liked both of the movies you will more than likely enjoy this series.

Never watched the movies

I found out about this through dead meat and wow.. as a fan of the league I've not seen Mark Duplass in much but this is definitely a great starter. I had no idea of how good of an actor he is as well as how quickly he can shift from one emotion to another in a snap. This character is very very interesting especially after the final two episodes, it helps flesh it out more than just a creep who kills. The friend I was watching it with said that the last two episodes ruined it for him because he didn't 'understand it' but I don't think that matters. The first film was filmed as a character study and that's what this feels like. A character study of a weird creepy guy showing how he gets his social interaction. The only main gripe I have with this show is the duration of the episodes, some of them are great at 20-25 mins such as the first episode, however I hope if we get a season two some of the episodes can be extended to around 40 minutes. I feel this would really help build more suspense and give a greater pay off because some episodes felt a little rushed due to the shorter runtimes.

Watchable & fun show, adds nothing to the movies

Creep 1 & 2 are great movies. Inventive and playing with great psychology between the characters. This show could've been similar, but I wish the episodes were 45 minutes instead of 22 minutes.

This series is basically the first movie condensed into 22 minutes for each episode with the same formula. It's watchable, even fun, but there's nothing remotely new here. It's exactly what you expect, minus the tension and WTF of the movies. You know exactly what to expect here.

The last 2 episodes try to buck that trend, but with weak results, derivative of psycho, and honestly a sort of embarrassing attempt at being edgy.

I wanted to love this show. I'm still happy they made it. I watched it through to the end. But ultimately, it's just not that good. :-(

6.9/10.

Not much to add (if there is any, at all) to all the things which have already been told. If you are a fan of the CREEP movies, you are gonna like it, as well. It's basically almost the same, just in a different entertainment form (tv episodes). The last two episodes add something to the "lore" though, giving the viewers a glimpse into the villain's psyche. I think they were the best episodes, overall.

If you haven't watched any movie of this franchise, know that this is a (really low budget) found footage horror. Horror that doesn't take itself too seriously, but i wouldn't call it a comedy/horror tv show. Mark Duplass is very good here, so, if you are a fan of him, you will probably like it, as long as you know this has nothing to do with the rest of his (non horror) work. It's dark and twisted (especially the last episode is going to some really dark places). I liked it but i can see why someone doesn't like it all. It's too dark for non horror fans and not that scary, for horror fans.

Good, but why!

I love the first two Creep movies and I especially can't wait for the third movie, but until then we have this tv series and it was good.

Positives for The Creep Tapes (2024-): Mark Duplass still does a great job with his performance as Josef and he is very consistent in these 6 episodes. There are moments in these 6 episodes that are very effectively disturbing to watch. I also love the variety of different kills that we get in these episodes. And finally, the found footage aspect from the movie translates into the tv format very well.

Negatives for The Creep Tapes (2024-): While I liked Mark Duplass' performance in the series, Josef was a very irritating character. Now I get this is how the character works, but he is so unbearable to watch on screen that I just want to strangle him. The way how he is able to kill these people is really annoying and this is coming from someone who listens the things that he says and he sounds pathetic. It's to the point where I would leave at all cost and even if he tries to stop me, I would kick his butt until he submits like a baby. It's tis aspect alone that makes me question why this series exist aside from keeping peoples interest in this franchise until the third movie comes out.

Overall, The Creep Tapes (2024-) is a good tv spin off to this horror franchise and I'm still excited for Creep 3 whenever it comes out, but the character of Josef kinda tanked my experience with the series.

If you're a creep fan this is a must watch

If you are a fan of the franchise(I believe we can already call it a franchise), than I suggest you'll check out the "Creep Tapes", chilling atmosphere and unexpected climax is guaranteed just like the previous movies, truly a delight to any horror fan.

As of me writing this review only the first two episodes are available, but still this has been a ride worth waiting for, they are absolutely incredible, Mark Duplass steals the show with his natural charisma and convincing acting ability, to the point you truly can't tell the difference between what's fake and what's not, it truly feels like watching a serial killer's murder tapes.

A Haunting Symphony of Madness and Terror

Creep Tapes was a solid and thoroughly enjoyable ride. While it doesn't quite match the brilliance of the films, it's a thrill to see Mark Duplass return as the unsettling psycho killer. His portrayal of the character is nothing short of exceptional-he completely nails the part, delivering a performance that's as disturbing as it is captivating.

The series stays true to the creepy, off-kilter tone of the Creep films, with most episodes delivering strong, unsettling narratives. A few episodes in the middle felt a bit lackluster, but overall, the show maintains a wild and eerie momentum.

I particularly loved how the series explored darker, weirder territory, especially with the religious themes in Episode 3. While I wish they had chosen an abandoned church as the setting for that episode, Mark's performance and the bizarre, twisted dialogue more than made up for it.

The finale was a standout, taking the horror to a whole new level. It was genuinely creepy, twisted, and everything you'd want from a conclusion to this unsettling story.

I absolutely recommend Creep Tapes to fans of the films. It's a spine-chilling journey that captures the essence of what made the movies so memorable while pushing the boundaries of discomfort in new and surprising ways.

Great fun

Loved Creep and Creep 2, so was really excited for Creep 3. Never came.. But when I read that the Creep tapes had been created, I was beside myself with excitement. The due date was marked. Shudder subscription renewed and today we watched the first two.

I was curious with how the episodes would play. Episode 1 whetted my appetite (reminiscent of Creep) but Episode 2 was totally different.

Mark Duplass is a genius in my opinion. His acting skills and different personas plus mixing dark, horror and humour is something I really enjoy.

I can't not wait to see the next four. I only wish Shudder had screened all six all at the same time then my November weekend would have been sorted.

THE EVERYONE FAVORITE CREEP IS BACK

The Creep Tapes is great for people who enjoyed Creep (I include myself in those), being a series it ends up expanding the world of Creep with new information but its biggest problem is that I feel that this factor is wasted a lot. Yes, the universe is expanded but it could be used much more but I also understand that they want to maintain the mysticism.

The series is entertaining although it can feel somewhat repetitive despite its constant attempt to change the formula a bit, it does not manage to be as scary as Creep and it does not manage to be as deep as Creep 2 but being 25 minute episodes it is fine although sometimes the endings feel somewhat rushed. It is not a perfect series but it does the job, without a doubt the best part is Mark Duplass since you can see how much he enjoys his character.

In conclusion, it had potential and I use it halfway but for the moment the construction of this universe is being fantastic.

Boring after first episode

I've never seen nor heard of creep 1 or 2 before watching this series.

After watching the first episode I thought it was great so I continued on to the 2nd episode. The 2nd episode wasn't as good as the 1st, however I moved on to the 3rd episode. This is where I noticed every episode seemed the same so I skipped to the 5th episode and watched 5 mins. I did the same with the 6th episode. Jeez all episodes are just the 1st episode with a scene change. The victims are straight up dumb and on top of that, ever victim was a giant sissy. The all run away like little girls and not one fights back. The serial killer is not a large man; he has skinny arms and a little pot belly. Also, the murder weapons seem to be an ax or a shovel, something easy to grab and wrestle over. Why didn't at least one dude fight back? The characters are located in the US. Not one of them had a gun, pepper spray or a knife? Every victim was going to meet some strange dude they never met before and just show up with a camera. I thought camera men were indestructible?

I hope watching this doesn't ruin Creep 1 or 2, since I wanted to watch at least one of them. However if all the victims act dumb and are little sissies like in this series then the movies must be pretty bad.

Watch episode 1 and skip the rest.

Unsettling Brilliance

I remember watching Creep on a whim, I hadn't heard much about it besides a few recommendations due to me enjoying the found footage genre. I knew Mark Duplass from The League and was seasons into recognizing him as Pete, but after watching it I was hooked and watched it 2x in the next 24 hours.

The 2nd movie I was a little apprehensive over, I thought 'could it be good if we know the twist?' The answer was a resounding yes, and I felt ridiculous for even doubting it. Flash forward to The Creep Tapes being announced, I have been hyped since the moment I read the words themselves and before I knew if it was a movie or show.

The way the franchise has managed to evolve while staying true to its unsettling, intimate tone is nothing short of brilliant. While Creep may not have revolutionized the found footage genre, it's carved out a unique space within it. Episode 1 titled Mike is simply insane, it shows you such a masterfully crafted performance by Duplass that you can't help but feel both captivated and deeply unsettled. The heart and soul of this franchise is Mark Duplass, and his portrayal of Peachfuzz continues to be a mesmerizing mix of charm, vulnerability, and sheer menace.

The Creep Tapes expand upon what we know in the best way, showing off Peachfuzz in full form with only 25 minutes of go time. He's a diva - manipulative, entertaining, and terrifying all at once. It's a rare and fascinating look at a character who thrives on making others uncomfortable while remaining utterly enigmatic.

The Creep Tapes episodes 1 & 2 set a high bar for the season, but if the show is able to maintain the level of tension, creativity, character exploration, and the pure brat that is Peachfuzz, they may end up elevating this franchise into a household name.

Watch the first 3 minutes and the last 2 minutes

And save yourself a whole bunch of time. Mark Duplass loves himself and it comes across loud and clear. I've often wondered where he went after The League and the answer is trying to sell this show for 10 years. It's exactly what you'd expect with zero surprises.

This paragraph is just to make my review long enough for the new six hundred character requirement instituted because Amazon's $1Billion show tanked and got bombed on this site. Hopefully they change it back because this is a waste of my and everyone else's time for quite literally absolutely truly no reason. Boom six hundred characters.

MORE MORE MORE pls

Mark Duplass delivers a chilling masterpiece in this series, capturing the essence of his iconic serial killer persona with the same eerie charisma and unsettling authenticity that made the Creep films so unforgettable. Every episode feels like a dark, twisted homage to the original Creep series, yet it stands on its own as a fresh and innovative psychological thriller.

The storytelling is razor-sharp, keeping viewers on edge with a perfect balance of suspense, dark humor, and unnerving character development. Duplass's portrayal is magnetic-his ability to switch from charm to menace in an instant is a testament to his talent and an absolute thrill to watch. Each episode peels back another layer of his complex character, leaving you guessing what he'll do next and how far he'll go.

For fans of Creep, this series is an absolute must-watch. It's clear Duplass hasn't lost his magic-if anything, he's taken it to new heights. But we need more! Mark, please give us a Season 2! There's so much potential to explore, and we're all dying (figuratively) to see what comes next.

Give Me More Creep!

We love the movies & we were incredibly pleased with the episodes of The Creep Tapes. Mark Duplass is mesmerizingly normal & rather than found footage type of feel, it's more you are literally watching Mark's home videos. The pace is different between both movies and varies between the episodes. I love how you never know what to expect from the character he has developed for each guest. My husband & I cannot get enough of Mark Duplass & anything in the Creep franchise. Mark is so terrifyingly hilarious each character can chill you to the bone while making you laugh your butt off. We are TRULY hoping Shudder continues to keep us fans happy.

Tapes aren't meant to be recycled.

This literally feels like a compilation of (rightfully) deleted scenes from the other two movies. A very, very, very long one.

We know the end goal of this character, and we know the shtick: you never know when the real thing is coming, and the guys deranged. We did not need dozens of other barely tweaked iterations.

I liked the other movies because you really did not know who you were dealing with or what was ultimately going to go down.

Guess what's on the tapes?

Exactly what you'd expect.

If you aren't convinced this is a vanity project, consider this: do you seriously need an entire opening credits song with animation if it's just your 3 names shown 10 different ways with different titles?

I'm willing to say that this works really well if you've never seen the movies.

Then again, if you're subscribed to Shudder, you've probably seen them, and this is streaming exclusively with Shudder. My sense is they wanted this big name for an original and Duplass got to do whatever he wanted.

In summation, Duplass should probably spare us any more of this and directly unpack his deep rooted issues with videographers.

YES

I loved the creep movies and the are most certainly not for everyone. I had a lot of jump scares in both and number 2 actually pulled on my heartstrings thing the girl would be let free. So I share this show with a few friends got like 50/50 respones. It is ok it is not for everyone as I said. Years ago by I search Creep 3 a bunch of opinions but no real news. THEN BAM...out comes this series of the tapes we all noticed in movies. I love how every story has crazy humour and playfulness. A bit more gore be nice...I also appreciate the length 23/24 minutes short?! Awesome because I always found the films to long.

Love you Mark.

It's just Roger! I ain't mad!

If you ever wondered what a live action series would look like if it was based on Roger the alien from American Dad as a serial killer, then here ya go! That's not a bad thing! The fake names, different personalities, quirky behavior, and a campy sinister sense of humor bundled with a costume rotation, it's all just a chef's kiss of a performance! Each episode is well timed and doesn't wear out its welcome. It's an odd duck for sure, but it's to be expected if you've seen the previous installments. Give it a shot! It's sure to entertain you if ya wanna kill some time turning your brain off, or if you're a glutton of extreme cringe!

He's right behind me, isn't he?

If you're a fan of the Creep movies like I am, The Creep Tapes is pretty much everything you'd hope for. This 2024 mini-series dives back into the weird, unsettling, and sometimes oddly charming world of Josef. Mark Duplass is once again absolutely perfect in the role.

Each episode is short, but still manages to tell a really captivating story. The series totally captures the same bizarre and uncomfortable energy that made the original films so good. I honestly loved every episode, but if I had to pick a favorite, I'd go with "Brad." I don't even know exactly why, it just stuck with me more than the others.

The found footage style mixed with suspense works so well here. It keeps things feeling raw, unpredictable, and super tense in the best way.

If you loved Creep and Creep 2, you need to watch The Creep Tapes. It feels like coming home to something deeply weird, and I mean that as a compliment.

The movies are great, but...

....this series is not, it is just rehashing the basic premise of the films and nothing new is happening here,

I have seen three episodes so far, with no real suspense or creepy dread as in the films, and I was getting bored by the end of the third. They are not funny either, which was part of the absurd charm of the two movies.

I wish Duplass had gone ahead with a third film instead of this series; it is hit or miss like Room 104 was, but that series was brilliant overall; it had different stories each time that were original and complete, while this series is just the same thing over and over again and just not as engaging.

Bad, boring, contrived, unnecessary vanity project

Why, no really why, if you've made and starred in two 'movies' with the same premise (which I haven't seen soooo soz, but asummed this might be interesting coming to it fresh) would you bother doing this?

I mean you'd think at the very least the acting/improvisation would be passable but the lead, who wrote and produced this, is unconvincing at all levels. Even the part where he's describing what a great naturalistic actor he is, its 'sleight of hand' I assume is suppose to be menacing, unnerving, kinda funny, revelatory is embarrassinly clunky and cliche - I mean dude cmon... its gotta work or.... I can't imagine this shiz sells so the only explanation is he's just doing this to get out of the house and away from the fam (oh and maybe some tax breaks on locations etc.,) One star for having a go, and another for the co-star's convincing frustration and annoyance (even though it could well be life imitating art)

Advice - really don't bother - this is to the viewer and TBH to the makers too.

Almost as good...

...as the movies. Creep 1 and 2 are two all-time great classics. The first episode truly rivals the movies; I believe it's a masterpiece. The conclusion of that episode was the perfect finishing touch! After experiencing such brilliance, my expectations for the following episodes soared. Mark Duplass shines as an all-time great actor, delivering a legendary performance that exceeds all expectations. The thought of him collaborating with Christoph Waltz is a dream come true for any fan of great cinema. Mark's performance was nothing short of epic. However, I couldn't bring myself to give it a perfect ten due to the disappointing ending of the final episode. I strongly disagreed with the creative choice made there. Still, my excitement for the possibility of a third film remains high. I hope this series ultimately leads us to what fans yearn for: a thrilling finale in Creep 3.

Hauntingly Good Performance at the Core of The Creep Tapes

The Creep Tapes is a disturbing, psychological horror series that thrives on unease, atmosphere, and most notably a chillingly convincing performance from its lead actor Mark Duplass. The story itself is simple yet effective, unfolding through found footage that feels eerily real, but it's the main actor who truly elevates each episode. His performance is unnervingly natural, striking a perfect balance between awkward charm and menacing unpredictability. He inhabits the role with such authenticity that it's often hard to tell where the character ends and the actor begins. The subtle facial expressions, the offbeat timing, and the quiet intensity make every moment he's on screen absolutely magnetic. It's a masterclass in understated horror acting. While some episodes have a few pacing issues and leave questions unanswered, the compelling lead performance makes it a must-watch for fans of unsettling cinema and Creep 1/2. 9/10!
