Chopper Cops

My lovely wife found this for me shortly after if first came out. I've pretty much binge watched all of the episodes. There are only 10, I'm not sure if there will be more the whole thing seemed to be based on archival footage of dash cams, body worn cameras, and chopper video. I suspect some of the interviews were done well after the events happened since in some cases the suspects sentences were included. That's not a bad thing as it gave those episodes some closure which you don't usually get on reality cop shows. I hope they have more it was entertaining. I always have to wonder when the interviews are done if the person involved was really thinking what they say they were thinking. I've got over a thousand hours in a news chopper doing basically the same thing they are but a little higher and all I'm concerned with is keeping the shot in frame and focus. If you're like me and a sucker for a good car chase this is a must watch.

My husband and I really like Chopper Cops, we hope it comes back for seasons 2,3,4.....you get my drift; just like "Cops". We like the show for a few reasons. It let's people who live in a bubble know that cops have dangerous jobs, they give explanations with the how and why of their dangerous tasks. Even though it doesn't show the danger itself on the show, no one's been hurt, they talk about everything that can happen or go wrong in each situation and why. Also, the show is an interesting take; showing the coordinated efforts of K9, Patrol, and air to catch the bad guys. It's interesting to see how the helicopters can direct police officers in the feild, catching criminals hiding in bush, woods, etc. Like I said, we really hope it comes back for many years to çome and doesn't become 'scripted".

Marion County is home. As the population steadily rises, so too does the crime rate. Sheriff Billy Woods is a serious, no-nonsense presence who is tough on crime, yet never fails to see the human element involved. This is an interesting show to watch our officers at work. It does make me wonder at all the crime happening around me at any given time. I'm so oblivious to it, but as this show has taught me, every 4-way stop is a potential for someone to be blowing through it with a stolen vehicle. I have to trust the Marion county sheriff deputies are protecting me, even when I don't know they're there.
