I like that it shows the secret tactics scammers use to cheat money off women. The journey and traumatic effects on the victim is well represented (as my friend has been cheated the same way previously)
Areas of improvements are the sound mixing could be better (was too loud) but I'm nitpicking as the volume could have been adjusted in the cinema controls. The actors' acting are quite exaggerated but I suppose it's intentional to make it obvious to bring the point across to all ages.
In summary, I believe everyone should watch this at least once, regardless of age and gender. It serves as a good reminder, strong awareness and warning to prevent us from falling into such schemes.
TLDR: Must watch as soon as possible (despite volume too loud in cinemas)

Content-wise, this film arrived at the right moment. With scams becoming more prevalent, and more sophisticated, Oppa is a film that shows how a teacher can also fall prey to the advances of scammers.
I am glad that the movie involved the Royal Malaysia Police, which shows how the police carry out their operations. The Director was skillful in putting together scenes carried out by real-life policemen and actors.
Perhaps the mixing of sounds could have been done better, as it felt jarring to me at the beginning. Nevertheless it improved midway, and I was able to immerse in the storyline subsequently. The twist at the end kept me on edge, and overall, it's a film worth watching.

Currently the average rating of 8 out of all the 25 ratings are misleading, probably just the friends and relatives supporting the product.
However, this is a complete waste of time. Actors and actresses don't seem to have gone through acting classes, storyline is dull, predictable, and editing is low tier, some fiverr work. I couldn't cringe enough while watching this, I can't name a worse movie or show. I don't know how this is even showing in cinemas, as mentioned before, most likely some rich man's son product. I wish they make better things in the future, best if it is not movies.
I repeat, don't waste your time here.

In this OPPA movie, the lackluster performances from the cast left much to be desired, with actors delivering lines devoid of emotion or authenticity.
The editing was a chaotic mess, with scenes clumsily stitched together, resulting in a jumbled narrative that left viewers feeling disoriented and disconnected.
Additionally, the voiceover work felt like a last-minute addition, poorly integrated into the film and often out of sync with the on-screen action.
Overall, this Oppa movie is a prime example of how poor acting, amateurish editing, and sloppy voiceover can detract from even the most promising premise, ultimately delivering a disappointing viewing experience.
I wonder how the cinema will publish such rubbish movie. Hope the director read this comment and improve his filming skill. As if he think this movie can publish to public, then he really got something wrong with him.
Try imagine a chef cook a chickens. Outside is showering brown and cooked colour, but inside is frozen is raw. Then the chef told you it absolutely no problem, it's delicious.
I never drop such cruel and bad comment. But this movie really wasting my time. Smart people learn from criticise. Please read carefully and think was this your problems or not.
If I were you, hire someone who professional on video editing. Get some budget for better equipment. Honestly, AI can do better than you.
Remember, whole movie I think only the movie cover is okay. Other than that, all is rubbish. Just like I mention a frozen raw chicken, but outside is brown and cooked colour.

The OPPA masterfully unpacks the tactics of online scammers, offering both entertainment and critical awareness. This movie is a compelling wake-up call, urging vigilance in our digital interactions. It's a must-watch for anyone navigating the modern online landscape.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Captain Daniel, the crew, and the team members for their noble mission of protecting the community from falling prey to online scammers.
There could not be a more timely release for this movie, as the impact of online scams has grown increasingly severe. Victims face devastating consequences, including family breakups, the destruction of young people's futures, the loss of life savings among pensioners, and countless other tragedies.

This just a prime example of typical ah beng movie in Malaysia . I'm not sure what kind of production is this , it's seem likes a collage works for me or even worst than that . I'm not sure how could they able to review and brave enough to promote to market ans let public watch it , it's just so cringe doesn't they feel ashamed?if there is zero rating I definitely will rate zero , 1 star is too kind . Storyline cringe , acting cringe and not to mention the music and sound .Don't waste your time and money to watch this trash , even YouTube scam video is more informative and better quality than this ........

Good movie. Gives audience good awareness of be aware in the cyberspace. Hope this movie can give awareness to be careful in the cyberspace.
The Director had done a job in promoting and arranging the scene for this movie based on the real love scam case.
I think this movie should be demostrated in other cybercrime cases, such as cyberbullying because 70-80 percent of the society nowadays is on the cyberspace or mobile devices. The Directors and the Royal Malaysia Police did a good job in creating awareness in how the society should be aware on what the society see on the cyberspace. The Royal Malaysian Police also did a good in raising awareness on what the Police job is to the public, as a whole. Good Job!

This is a fantastic anti-scam movie that delivers a powerful and timely message. Highly recommended for viewers of all ages. I believe this movie raises important awareness for its audience. It shows how easily scammers can manipulate and deceive, often targeting unsuspecting victims through emotional manipulation or promises of love and wealth. It beautifully depicts how love can cloud judgment, causing people to sacrifice everything. The movie emphasizes the need for everyone to be smart and cautious. Furthermore, the film showcases a mix of languages, including Malay, Mandarin, Hindi, and Korean, adding cultural richness to the experience. In short, this film is more than just entertainment; it's a crucial educational tool that reminds us to stay sharp, stay informed, and take proactive steps to protect ourselves and those around us from the ever-evolving world of scams. A great local film overall! Good job and hope to see more productions in near future 👍

The movie delivers a powerful message about love scams, urging the public to stay vigilant, think smart, and remain alert at all times. With scam cases in Malaysia rising rapidly, it's difficult to predict the scammers' latest tactics. However, by staying informed and cautious, we can protect ourselves. As Malaysia's first film addressing scams, it successfully raises awareness and broadens understanding of the various methods used by scammers. Watching it has sharpened my awareness and reminded me to always be cautious of strangers. Hopefully, more films like this will be produced in the future to educate and remind the publics.

I think this movie is a very good movie. It provides an awareness to their audiences. This movie barely show how the scammers use AI and technology to trick and trap their victims especially towards woman. This movie was recommended to everyone because it shows the scammers are willing to do anything to make sure they can scam your money and threaten you with a lot of various methods. Trying to pull you down and ruin your dignity. As what we can see in the movie, scammers will also lead their victims to loan shark too. So, it's very dangerous. In my opinion, I think this movie is a very successful movie. Well done! Hope to see more movie from this production company again! Thanks!
It is with the hope that a message could be carried through this film to provide understanding and knowledge to the viewers as what is depicted in the film is representative of the present society. We are confident that the trend will decrease because of our ongoing awareness and advocacy efforts.
After watched this movie, it may brings more awareness to public to avoid being scam. The more we share, the lesser scam we hope to get. Highly recommended to watch this movie. Hope to watch in online platform as my parents havent watch yet. Looking forward to have second movie by them. All the best.

"OPPA," Malaysia's first anti-scam film, is a compelling collaboration between Dream Film and the Royal Malaysia Police Commercial Crime Investigation Department. This 88-minute feature, inspired by real-life domestic scam cases and romance scams, is both visually stunning and emotionally resonant.
Based on true events, "OPPA" tells the story of a primary school teacher longing for love who meets her "OPPA" online, leading to a cross-border romance. However, her dreams are shattered by a series of "unexpected" events, turning her fairy tale into a nightmare. The film's realistic narrative and strong performances deeply engage the audience, conveying the protagonist's emotions vividly.
The film excels in its visual and musical elements, with every scene and soundtrack thoughtfully crafted to enhance its impact. Whether in the romantic beginning, the tense middle, or the poignant end, the seamless integration of visuals and music keeps the audience emotionally invested throughout.
"OPPA" goes beyond entertainment, serving as a powerful educational tool. It raises awareness about online romance scams, particularly targeting working women, single mothers, divorced women, and housewives. The film emphasizes the importance of vigilance and encourages society to take preventive measures against such scams.
"OPPA" is a remarkable blend of entertainment and education, with a captivating plot, excellent performances, high-quality production, and significant social impact. It not only provides a compelling viewing experience but also delivers a crucial message about online safety.
For those looking for a film that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, "OPPA" is a must-watch. Dream Film has once again demonstrated its exceptional creative and production capabilities, setting a new benchmark for the Malaysian film industry.

Throughout the entirety of the show's narrative arc, it becomes evident that numerous viewers initially found themselves perplexed by the abrupt introduction of Oppa and the seemingly rapid evolution of the central relationship. This narrative strategy subtly implies to those who have not yet watched the series that subsequent plot developments may follow a linear trajectory, devoid of unexpected twists and turns. However, upon closer examination, one begins to question the validity of such assumptions. While viewers may find themselves engrossed in the apparent simplicity of the plot, astute observers may detect a series of intricately woven threads, hinting at a deeper, more complex narrative beneath the surface.
Indeed, there are several chilling details scattered throughout the storyline, the implications of which are too significant to divulge in this brief commentary. It is my recommendation that viewers engage in multiple viewings of the show. By revisiting the episodes with a discerning eye, one may uncover a wealth of hidden clues and subtle nuances that provide invaluable insight into the true nature of the story.
Through this process of reevaluation, viewers may come to realize that the seemingly disparate events of the plot are, in fact, interconnected in ways that were not immediately apparent. The answers to the questions posed by Oppa's sudden appearance and the rapid progression of the central relationship may lie dormant within the subtle details of earlier episodes. In essence, each viewing offers a new opportunity to peel back the layers of the narrative, revealing a rich tapestry of interconnected story lines and character motivations waiting to be explored.

My impression of "Oppa"
The most impressive scene for me is the real-life scene of jumping off a building. The last straw that broke the camel's back was self-blame and the inability to face the outside world's comments.
The understanding of colleagues, the support of family members and the company of friends in the movie are the positive energy and kindness that help victims get out of the abyss, which is also the essence that society must maintain. It encourages everyone to share correct analytical knowledge, and not to judge and speculate on the truth based on the surface of the Internet and cause irresponsible keyboard damage.
As citizens, we have a greater responsibility to support Malaysian local productions to show the most positive image to the world.
