Beautifully shot with a very cool look and feel, this movie's story is fun, and the acting is solid. But the standout is how it looks both clean and gritty at the same time. The cinematography is truly exceptional, elevating the entire viewing experience. Every frame is meticulously composed, creating a visual tapestry that belies its independent roots. The dynamic camera work and inventive lighting immerse you in its world, making it feel like a much bigger production than the trailer suggests. This masterful visual storytelling not only enhances the narrative but also punches far above its weight class. I felt the pacing was solid for an indie sci-fi, and the ending paid off. If you like the aesthetic of Mad Max and Dune, you'll really appreciate the way this movie looks and feels.

Just bad. Not good. Depressing and bland. The reason I watched it the poster looked like a knock of Mad Max. I just think this shouldn't of been made idk. Some might like it, most won't.
The overall plot could be interesting if executed correctly. Never seen this director before in my life. A lot of "potential" cast don't believe I've ever seen them in my life. Character development seemed non existent, bland story backgrounds and just an non interesting plot, but again could be interesting if executed correctly. With a 70mil budget it was shot pretty good, but I think that's where they put their cash. Probably forgot to do anything else marketing wise.

The Protector aims big but delivers hollow. The high-octane action is noted, but it's weighed down by lazy writing, bland characters, and unbalanced pacing. If you're after a gritty, innovative post-apocalyptic ride, keep rolling - this one is running on fumes.
The action, while present, often plays out like a video game. One critic notes it feels like "fighting through 20 levels of a violent video game" - more brutal than thrilling, and often laughably choreographed
Characters are archetypes: Key is a shell of a survivor whose backstory feels tacked on, while villains and side characters lack depth. One critic harshly states: "A slipshod ... flick ... baffles me" how it got distribution
Not worth 1 star.
