5 Ways 2 Die

If you want a philosophical brain teaser with a sense of humor this is a short film you need to watch. Great twist...well written plot and this reminds me that we are universal in our struggles and behavior. We see a man who demonstrates behavior conducive to preparing for his own death including buying a coffin and getting a dark suit. The main character works hard to work towards death. Certainly as the film goes forward you see what appears to be failed attempts at death. Is it fate and as the creator asks: what is a successful suicide attempt? Successful we think to be a positive. Does successful mean they completed or could one say that successful means that they lived? A cynical sense of humor certainly is a must. Being able to laugh at life's difficult situation can be a great tool for surviving as well as thriving.

Great script; funny and to the point. It has layers of humor and it invites you to watch it more than once and really discover the less obvious funny moments. The acting of Michalis Marinos and Stella Fyrogeni makes this dark comedy a must see! The music also complements the direction of the film. Especially at the end. I watched this film more than once, and it kept me entertained all three times. I'm always amazed how well small budget movies do. The young filmmakers bring a fresh kind of energy to the film. It has a nice 3D opening and subtle effects which make the film more feel "complete". The graphics (poster, web etc) complement the dark subject in a clever way.

In a visual format that takes hints from both European and American cinema with a lean towards the more eclectic elements of both, this short length film is very enjoyable and quite thought provoking at the same time. The parts that make you chuckle are nicely contrasted by realistic (and tragic) events in the main character's narrative. The casting is spot on and the directors vision is consistent and beautiful. All these element come together to create a cinematic experience with high production value. The story plays through organically but is simultaneously stylized in a very smart and natural way. Diana Papadaki is definitely a young director to watch!
