This series exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Cinematography, set designs, story, direction, actors' performances are all superb. The best Filipino series in ages.

Well-researched story. Doctolero has mastered the art of historical stories. Slow-paced yet no scene is a waste. Background music adds tension to the already heart pounding scenes.

Performances from all the lead and supporting actors are praiseworthy especially those of Richards and Lopez. Trillo never disappoints. Pangilinan has always been and will always be great, giving a supporting role justice and importance. De Leon is the contravida you'd love to hate.

Great actors (except for the actress who plays Adelina. She is way too much and I hate her facial expressions and outburts of emotions, and gestures. OVERACTING!!!!) and I would've given it a perfect score had the CGI been good and the Japanese language more convincing. Philippine production still has a long, long, long way to go but this is truly an entertaining and educational show. I hope they didnt change the song intro though. This is just one of the only two shows where I never skip the intro. But since episode 39, when the song intro changed, I started skipping it. I dont like the new song intro. If it is a part of the same song, then I dont like that part at all. Anyway, overall, this show is just one of the very few Filipino shows that entertains me. I rarely watch pinoy shows coz they are all just the same but this one is okay. I just hope someone would tell that actress to tone it down. She is freaking me out. Her character isnt a crazy woman but she's acting CRAZY with too much energy that she has become too annoying to watch.

Only those who have low-standard toward films will rate this war-drama series good or great. It was only entertaining when the story was about the childhood experiences of the lead characters, but when they became adults, everything fell apart. The dialogues are not impressive, and the director does not have the skills to direct action sequences. The whole series was only interesting at first, and only because there are not a lot of war-drama shows that had been produced in the Philippine film industry. The overacting, Japs speaking Tagalog, Pinoy looking Japs, foolish sequences, lazy cam angles (from the Jap invasion down to the end) rubbished or undeveloped characters, crying for 10 to 20 seconds too long, location felt like as just a small district or a barangay, anti-climatic with a horrendous ending, not in 4K, et cetera!!!

David Licauco (Hiroshi) is a revelation here! I would be expecting for him to win acting awards for this portrayal.

Barbie Forteza (Adelina) has always been superb! Sanya Lopez (Teresita) portrayal of a comfort woman is flawless. No other artist could perform this.

Alden Richards (Eduardo) is amazingly good as well. Dennis Trillo (Yuta) is the villain you will hate forever. The supporting actors, Rochelle Panginiban, and the others are also really great.

Hands down because cinematography is great! Chemistry among actors is also evident. Although I am always on a crying stint every episode, it has always been purposeful. Watch it now!

This is one of the best Filipino shows I've ever watched. - Seeing how the story unfolds makes me want to see what happens next, and the plot is also well written. I am SO proud of everyone who has contributed to this series.

Another positive aspect of the show is how true to reality the beginning of the Japanese war and colonization of the Philippines is. I really commend the team for their researches.

The visuals, the story, the characters are amazing, just like the people who have tried their best to make this show a reality.

The beginning already got me hooked, as I saw how all the characters matured one by one.

The chemistry, different relationships and various interactions between the characters are all skillfully done. The scenes either make me want to laugh or cry.

I am pleased and satisfied to have come across this series, and I am very content.
