Expressway to Your Skull

This film could have been a better b movie if they didn't use the arty style in this film. The story was okay, a couple who are having problems go to a forest to take his and try and get their relationship back on track, what? I know a stupid story there. Then we have Charlie who says he was in the special forces and is trying to get a woman to share his time worth but he kills them if they don't fit a dress, see the movie for more detail. So that's the basis of the story but it's execution was bad almost bearing in the awful, which totally ruined the film. This movie had arty colours filling up the screen through most of the movie, I know it was meant to show time passing and when the people on screen were out if it. But to me it was a very cheap way to fill in screen time. Then the acting I must admit was overall pretty good. As I stated earlier, Charlie says he was in the special forces but doesn't tie the hero to the chair, just ties his hands? Details people details, don't treat the audience as if they're thick and stupid, we're not. I would have given this film a four if it wasn't for the arty attempt that failed the audience and the movie. Oh and by the way don't believe the ten rating, that must be from someone who has worked on the movie.

This is a really good film. Beautifully shot. Cinematographer did a great job. Paul S. Tracey and Lindsay Atwood were believable as bored 20-somethings and had good chemistry. Mark Aaron was especially good. He is definitely worth watching! He was an interesting villain and acted with great intensity.There was a good balance between mellow scenes and tense moments to keep you interested.The music was great and set the mood well. Ending scenes were heart-pounding.For a low budget indie film I'm really impressed. Definitely had more depth than the usual "cabin in the woods" films.Great work from first time director Michael Okum! Can't wait to see more of his work.
