Goofy rubbish on Mickey Mouse budget

The worst film I've ever seen..and I've seen many recently. Appalling acting and shocking direction. Hard to categorise, neither a horror or comedy.

Plot Man in Mickey Mouse mask slaughters annoying teens who I don't give a Donald Duck about in an arcade... It makes The Winnie the Poo catastrophe look like Friday the 13th.

If you like watching drawn out shots of kids play air hockey or arcade games, then this is for you.

Surely there are better directors, screenwriters and actors out there. Surprised by Simon Phillips, his resume, even though not perfect has some above average performances.

Think the producers are taking the Mickey?

I Thought I was Watching a School Project...

On a real note, the concept, the title, and the story had real potential; it could've been a modern horror twist to what we grew up on. However, the execution was like an air ball layup. From the first scene through the last scene, you can notice the lack of experience behind the camera. Furthermore, the camera work during ambient scenes swapped the horror with comedy instead. The slasher villain in this movie had a very poor origin story, his entrance made no sense; therefore making the movie further unrealistic and unenjoyable. It wouldve been better if inspiration was taken by the famous slasher villan "Michael Myers," to improve audience scare effect and suspense. Not to mention, the plot was very predictable. In conclusion, the idea behind the film had potential but wasn't the best production.

You thought winnie the pooh was bad? think again

So, since these old classics are in Public domain, anyone can make a movie. Yet with this movie, we see that some people should not do movies at all... We saw winnie the pooh Blood and honey 1, which was very bad, yet they upped their game in the sequel which was quite good for what it is. And then we have this.... Definitely the worst ive seen in a while, and i've watched plenty of Troma movies recently.

Lets start with 1 good thing. Cinematography is not terrible. While it's not Kubric, lol , it was not terrible at all. No fancy camera work, but you get what's happening, and the quality was actually good. Lighting was ok, even as there are plenty of secnes in the dark. They did 1 good job here.

And that's all i can say as good about the movie. Acting was from bad to terrible. But the worst part was the script and dialogues. Yes, i know these actors are inexperienced, but the bad dialogue and script didn't help them at all. And the ending - lol. Definitely a textbook case of how NOT to end a movie.

Anyway, not recommended. Unlike winnie the pooh, this is unwatchable.

Mickey's Mouse Trap: A deadly game of Cat and Mouse?

The real trap was finishing this film

"Mouse Trap" had a decent premise going in, and before reading any reviews, I went to watch the film. However, and after the first 5 minutes, I thought it was going to be enjoyable. But, It didn't work out that way. So, Let's review "Mouse Trap".

I really enjoyed the 2 girls performances, and the amusements were really cool looking. And the kids acted like kids, and they say some funny things. So that was fairly good. I also found the humour to work, the gimmick goes as follows, one of the girls has a crush on the boys, and then Is allowed out, despite having to work a longer shift. And she's never going to come back, despite promising to. Which was quite funny to me.

The Micky Mouse costume is also very good, and then he comes chasing, and the mystery thickens as to who he is. Alex's friends then ruin his attack, and celebrates her birthday with her. And we see a love triangle involved with Alex. I really enjoy the character-development, and the first 20 Minutes. But after that it de-rails and looses it's feet.

What I mean by this, Is the mystery is good. And a nice added touch, the effects are solid also afterwards. But the script takes a massive backwards step, and makes characters conversations either unatral or not a very good script to go off, and it just feels disappointing. Like it had promise. But the script and everything just Let's it down.

The detective on the left was decent, but the girl and the other's detectives lines were rather cringeworthy and lost all impact on the story. And the rest of the characters make silly decisions that don't really add up. Like how does someone sleep?, when a murderous rampaging lunatic is on the loose, I think he just forgot. The other characters have awkward moments. But they do have some clever and smart ideas.

They do realise one thing may work, which is the lighting effects the Mickey Mouse guy. And that works well. But for me it was wasted potential. It's more a 4 then a 3 but it should of been more. So, the question raised.

Would I recommend this film?

I would not, have a Cuppa instead and avoid it.

Here we go...

I went into The Mouse Trap with the lowest of expectations and still managed to be disappointed. Even with its short runtime, it drags. I tried my hardest to pay attention to the dialogue scenes, which is most of the movie, but I couldn't. I did laugh at parts because the script and acting were terrible throughout the whole film. It's insane that there's no drop of blood in a slasher film until over halfway through. Like over half of this thing, it's just Mickey standing and staring. It's almost like the director just like the iconic shots of killers like Ghostface, Jason, etc., and forcefully tried to give the killer these campy moments. Also, I can't begin to grasp the decisions that were made with this killer's voice or even having him speak in the first place. It felt like a caricature of Ghostface and even Jigsaw except less scary. It has so many missed opportunities. There are so many set pieces that could've been fun, but they were squandered. Even the kills are lame. It's such an atrocious film. Also, who was the goth girl, and how did she know everything? There was no reason to hop back and forth between this girl for the whole film just for her to be insignificant to the story. Another thing is that this has nothing to do with to do with the Disney IP. It's a shameless cash grab taking advantage of the public domain. Oh, we're getting a sequel to? Great...

Another insipid cash-grab slasher movie

In the vein of Winnie the Pooh, someone in this world jump on the occasion to grab a well known licence hense now free to make a cash grab as quickly as possible.

Even though I like the idea of using childhood figures to make a slasher movie, the execution is at best amateurish, at worst completely insipid. Gore enthusiast can chill, cause there is almost no slash appearing in front of the camera.

The only positive aspects of this awful production is the performance of Mackenzie Mills who seems to be the only one who is not overplaying, and the sets which are quite nice.

In the end, it will be erase from your memory in the few days following the viewing, until an even more desperate cash-grab sequel is on the way by the end of 2025, tops (personal forecast).

Exactly what expected... unfortunately.

It wasn't the absolute worst... I've said this about a lot of these type films. I've seen worse, acting, editing, directing, and cinematography (I grew up on 80's B-Movie horror)... but, it just didn't have anything redeeming about it.

I get that you need to put this out with as small a budget as possible, but you end up with a medicocre film when there's only one person with more than 1 acting credit (other than this film) to their name.

It's painfully obvious (without even looking at their IMDB pages) which have experience and those that do not. It looks like a mediocre student film... there's no chemistry between any of the characters. They all look like they're just waiting their turn to read the lines... just not convincing as real dialogue.

Even the main actor (who has more credits to her name than the rest combined) isn't great... although, MUCH better than the rest. They literally look like they were chosen because they'd work for the exposure.

I have no issues with any of the dozen+ horror films of characters coming into the public domain, that are coming out. I just wish they were better done. I can't believe I'm saying this , but BOTH Winnie-the-Pooh horror films were actually better. I struggled to give this as many as 3 stars.

Absolutely do not waste your time

As a fan of mystery films, I was excited to see The Mouse Trap, hoping for an engaging story with clever twists. Unfortunately, the movie fails to deliver on nearly every front. The pacing drags, making the film feel far longer than it should, and the characters are so underdeveloped that it's hard to care about what happens to them.

The mystery itself is predictable, with no real surprises or moments of tension. Even the "big reveal" falls flat, lacking the cleverness or impact that a good mystery demands. Visually, the film is uninspired, and the dialogue feels wooden and unnatural, as though the actors themselves were as bored as I was watching it.

Overall, The Mouse Trap offers little more than a forgettable, uninspired experience that barely justifies its runtime. Save your time and look for a mystery that actually delivers on its promise.

That was very dumb and a lot of fun!

Well, I've finally watching The Mouse Trap (2024), the horror movie with Mickey Mouse as the slasher villain. While there are a number of problems with it, I still had a blast with this movie.

Positives for The Mouse Trap (2024): This is one of those slasher movie where you need to run your brain off, just to have some fun. There was a lot of entertainment in seeing Mickey Mouse killing a group of annoying adults. And finally, the amusement arcade was a fun little setting for this movie.

Negatives for The Mouse Trap (2024): The acting from these characters are very bad. The fact that Mickey Mouse teleports is really dumb. There's this police and victim sequence that feels really pointless and is just there to waste time. And finally, the ending was very anti-climatic.

Overall, The Mouse Trap (2024) is a bad slasher movie, but it's also an entertaining "Turn Your Brain Off" Slasher Movie and you have a lot of fun with this movie.

If You're Hopeful, You Shan't Be Disappointed

Honestly, if your interested are piqued by the idea of this film, or you have any hope that you'll enjoy this-you probably will love this. It has exactly what one would expect of a slasher film starring teenagers being hunted by Mickey Mouse. In fact I would say this has more than you could hope for in terms of quality.

Sure, it's not a quality film in terms of cinematography or any conventional criteria, but for a cheap entertaining film with no attempt at leaving any redeeming qualities it isn't bad at all.

It's well worth a small fee to rent the film for an 80 minute flick to watch with friends and have a good time. Enjoy.

It was so bad

The worst movie I have ever seen. The acting was so bad I couldn't even watch it. The movie script was so so bad and it was very unrealistic. You should't even watch it because it's not worth the time. I don't know what they were thinkig by making this movie. Students in our school could make a better movie, script and the acting better. The actors are probably from Tik Tok. I am so pissed that I watched this movie and was expecting so much from it, but guys, lets be for real - the movie is so bad. All in all, don't watch this movie and from all my heart don't waste your time, find something better to watch. Thank you <3.

Winnie the Pooh was better

I am all about classic slasher films, and I loved Winnie the Pooh just for that fact, you got to see the gore you got to see the stabbing you got to see her brain being crushed by the BMW tire. I have sat through an hour of mousetrap and I haven't seen Enough Gore enough of the actual death to classify this as a slash or horror, which is what it should be. I'm actually insulted that this is supposed to be a slasher film or that is related the Winnie the Pooh. My son thought that Winnie the Pooh lacked storyline well this lacks the actual slasher part of the film.this is the worst review process ever, there should not be a minimum or Of characters for a review.

Worst movie I have ever seen

As a fan of horror movies, I am not too judgy when it comes to corny comedy horror movies. But this movie may actually be the worst one I have ever seen.

First off, the acting was horrible and I honestly think I could have done better without looking at the script or knowing what the movie was about. I understand they are trying to create awkwardness between certain characters but it was really just cringe trying to listen to them or even watch.

I was curious and looked up the budget for this movie and seen it was $600,000. Where the hell did they even put the money! The kills were boring with little to no gore and some of them were off screen which honestly made it better so we didn't have to watch the poor attempt of a decent kill in a movie era where horror movies are notorious for being bloody and graphic.

Unless you are extremely bored and want a laugh for how bad the acting is, do not watch this movie. 0/10 easily.

Please, make it stop

Okay, WHAT?!? One of the worst 1hour and 20 minutes of my life. What did I literally just watch? It's full of line reading, cheesy acting, and it doesn't even have any good kills!! If you're going to make a slasher movie, at least have bloody deaths!!! The acting is actually horrible.. like really, really horrible. The only decent actor/actress in this movie was Alex Fen's actress. She honestly seemed like the only actress/actor who seemed like she knew what her job was and how to do it. You can honestly tell that the majority of the actors have definitely never acted in a movie before. And Mickey Mouse doesn't even look like Mickey Mouse. Wtf?!

This movie is punishment

Good lord, I love bad horror movies. Especially low budget bad horror movies. But this was absolutely terrible. It's like they wanted to hop on the Public Doman character slasher movie so fast they just said we're gonna improv the whole thing and change the rules as we go along.

It was like it took Mickey Moouse, Some five nights at Freddys ripoff game and ran with it. I get that sometimes bad movies are fun to make just to do it but I felt shame for watching it.

If I had to say a positive thing about it. The location was pretty cool, but it is more the shame as this type of location with a movie this bad is just a crying shame.

The already low bar has been set even lower

Obviously, I didn't expect much from this movie and thought it would align with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, but boy, was I wrong. While Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was bad, this movie takes things to an entirely new level of awful. The acting is god-awful, the dialogue is atrocious, and the characters are irritatingly stereotypical, becoming progressively more infuriating the longer you watch.

Even the story was a complete mess, with a script riddled with more holes than Swiss cheese. I'll keep this review short because I don't want to spend more time writing about this film than the creators likely spent making it. Just don't watch it, it's not even enjoyably bad. [2.4/10]

A Cheesy, Fun Horror Ride

"The Mouse Trap" is the cinematic equivalent of a guilty pleasure. It's a film that knows exactly what it is and doesn't pretend to be anything more than a good, old-fashioned cheesy good slasher flick. Right from the opening Star Wars-esque crawl, setting the stage with a campy, over-the-top tone, you know you're in for a wild ride.

The film's self-awareness is its greatest strength. It leans into its absurdity, embracing the campiness of its premise: a killer Mickey Mouse stalking a group of unsuspecting teens. The kills could have been expanded, but the filmmakers make the best of what they can with their budget, the dialogue cheesy, and the plot predictable, yet there's an undeniable charm to it all.

While it's certainly not a cinematic masterpiece, Mouse Trap is a fun, mindless escape. It's the kind of movie you watch with a group of friends, armed with popcorn and plenty of beer, ready to laugh, scream, and forget about the world for a couple of hours.

It... exists

By no means is this a good movie. In fact it's a bad movie. But bad movies can still be fun to watch. This one was just.. meh. It had a little fun, and actually some interesting concepts, but they were heavily underused, and the film never really had a full on ending. The ending was kinda funny, but I wanted to know what happened. The police station scenes felt added in for the sole purpose of runtime. They were okay, just way too many of them. The post credit scene was interesting. Not very "pumped" for a sequel though. Overall, watchable, but wait till this is free or streaming somewhere. I don't recommend paying for this. It's like a movie you watch if you're bored and curious. The kills were generic, except for the last unexpected one. However, if you just wanted to watch for a goofy Mickey Mouse killing bland characters, you'll love this. The film only had like 2 or 3 characters that I even started to care about. But, again. It's a Mickey Mouse slasher that took advantage of public domain. And who knows, maybe they'll step it up for the sequel. That Winnie the Pooh one at least made the sequel more entertaining. We'll see. If you're looking for a GOOD horror movie, though. Stay as far away from this as possible.
