Avis à la une
Overall an enjoyable movie but had a lot of room for improvement but it wasn't that bad though. A recommended watch in my opinion
Memorable: No Rewatchable: Unlikely..
I just wanted to let you know that I was one of the fortunate ones who was able to watch this latest animated gem from DC and Warner Bros. in addition to being at the premier, to which I was able to interview some of the incredible talent behind this latest endeavor...including the incredible Andrea Romano.
Justice League: WAR is based on DC Comics' "New 52", which means brand new origin stories and character depictions...if you're up on the current issues, well then only you can be the judge on the quality of these new story lines.
For me, who was never really a true "Comic-Book Geek", only a semi-Comic Book Geek, I am a little disappointed on this latest animated offering...which is sad, because, up until now, I have been nothing but incredibly impressed with all things DC Animated.
Now, please do not get me wrong, the movie is fun, and visually stunning...it is just not what I had hoped in as far as story, character development and execution. "Justice League: THe Flashpoint Paradox", "Justice League: The New Frontier" and "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths" I felt were better offerings and I have incredible hope and confidence that DC will continue with those as their guides for their future productions.
With all of that said...would I still watch it again? Sure, again, it was a fun watch, and even my 15 year old son, who loves these animated movies just as much as I do, enjoyed watching it and would watch it again...so...go out and get this DVD, which is officially on sale as of Tuesday, 02/04/14 and have yourselves a "Superfriends" time. ;)
I realize this and Flashpoint Paradox are part of the New 52 universe rebranding, but there's been a noticeable turn toward the grim and gritty. Which I feel just does not work for this collection of characters. It hasn't worked in the DCEU live action iterations and it doesn't work here, although these at least demonstrate a level of competence in storytelling logic. Mostly.
The characterization is garbage though. Why does DC/Warner think we want all of their heroes to be a-holes?
"Justice League: War" is everything a fan of this publisher would want to see. "War" is everything a fan of this publisher would want to see. The interaction of the most famous heroes and their development as a team in their early days. The movie offers you a simple, dynamic premise with very interesting details.
Jay Oliva did a quite memorable job, epic for many and admirable for others. The director brings his great potential to Justice League with decent narrative arguments, demonstrating love for the characters and bringing them to epic proportions on the big screen.
In terms of animation, this film has well-crafted work, with good movement fluidity, color tonality, and some practical special effects for those years. Additionally, in its drawing style, it offers other designs for some characters that are decent and outstanding.
The connection that exists between each character is one of the strongest points of the movie, some well-founded and others somewhat forced, but despite that, for its duration, it is more than acceptable. Without a doubt, the bond between Shazam and Cyborg is a clear example of friendship, reliability, and steadfastness.
"Justice League: War" surprises because it gives each character their moment, their storyline, and development. "War" surprises because it gives each character their moment, their storyline, and development. All of this is accompanied by a soundtrack that promises and provides a better connection with the viewers and what happens on screen.
Once again, Batman continues to astonish in the presence of beings with great powers, but his ingenuity, skill, and ability stand out in every scene. What the bat brings to the League is on another level. His role as a mentor for Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) is sublime. Since the character had a not-so-convincing performance, but improved considerably.
This movie is the very essence of the live-action film from you-know-who.
Superman and his chemistry with Wonder Woman.
Le saviez-vous
- AnecdotesWonder Woman's New 52 costume is slightly changed for the film in order to make her outfit less revealing and avoid referencing her cleavage.
- GaffesWhen Shazam says his own name to introduce himself to the other heroes, the lightning that transforms him from Billy Batson to Shazam, and vice versa, does not strike. However in the New 52 continuity (upon which this film is based), the word "SHAZAM" only works when he intends for it to. Otherwise he can say it without effect. This was necessary when they changed the character's name from Captain Marvel.

Batman: No.
Green Lantern: Can you fly?
Batman: In a plane.
Green Lantern: Wait, you're not just some guy in a bat costume, are you? Are you freaking kidding me? What, nobody asked you to prom so you now dress as a bat and prowl around your parents' basement?
