Tolu is insufferable

God there is so much victim card playing in this game and Tolu is the absolute worst. We're only 2 episodes in and I'm ready to turn it off. This show could've been a really cool concept but honestly the women (as a fellow woman) totally ruined this show and it's cringey to watch. They're all overly emotional and taking everything wayyyyy too personal. People literally just had to chill and enjoy the beach and it would've been a way more enjoyable experience. The best part of the show is the decisions. If they make a second season you need to have the same genders or at least more trust building exercises in the beginning.

Boohoo I'm poor

Man these people all just love making themselves look like victims. It's SO annoying and unattractive. Boohoo, you grew up with nothing. Boohoo you grew up in a trailer park. Boohoo you're an immigrant. No one has the perfect life and it's wrong of you to make someone feel inferior to you just because you THINK you were worse off than they were. Victim mentality is so stupid and so lazy.

If you like shows where people say they're humble, but in reality are greedy snakes, you'd like this show. But it gets on my nerves watching these rude, ignorant, selfish people compete for money, for entertainment.

Good ideas, but not so great cast

If you like other reality shows such as The Traitors, Survivor, The Mole...etc then you may like this show a bit, but be warned the cast isn't that great. The whole premise of this show is that everyone is a winner, and whomever gets to the end gets to split a $250,000 prize. The catch though is that if you chose to vote someone out that means that everyone's cut of the prize goes up due to there now being less people. Also There are things that happen along the way in which the cast can raise the total amount of money or keep more for themselves.

So you're thinking to yourself that sounds like it could make for a great show, but sadly you would be wrong and it all has to do with the cast. Most of the men in the cast act like they have a moral high ground and want to just go to the end with everyone. While most of the women want to get people out so they get a bigger cut of the money. Also none of them are all that interesting character wise. At no point did I ever find myself rooting for anyone. So if you like reality TV shows and you are really really bored you could check this one out, but don't expect anything great out of it whatsoever.

I Was SO READY TO HATE THIS....but.....

It's a reality game show. Generally speaking, I don't watch much of that stuff....at least that's the lie I've been telling myself whilst totally watching reality game shows.

I got sucked into this pretty quickly. The premise is simple....be greedy and take it all or be nice and share the wealth. BUT, If everyone were nice, then it wouldn't have much entertainment value. The first 1 1/2 episodes, I was about ready to turn it off because so many of these contestants seemed so utterly unlikable....my opinion changed pretty quickly.

After the end of episode 4, you really kind of get a sense of who these people are and how they are playing the game. Positive points for the incredibly gorgeous scenery. Negative points for encouraging me to like people who are totally unlikable. Recommend if you like reality game shows. It delivers exactly what you would expect.

Get over your initial revulsion, and it's really a quite good look into power dynamics

This show is as well as being an interesting reality format an insight into the self belief that some people have that the world owes them something. And often that is through victimhood.

As a format, the show is intriguing. Clearly riding on the Traitors, but in some ways I find this more interesting as power is very asymmetrical and can be wielded at any time. When it should be wielded, how it should be wielded, who you trust with your decision-making all play a part. The producers are really good at introducing games too which then upset the dynamics, or force things to be revealed and upset the applecart.

As a format to look into power dynamics, it's very intersting and quite addictive.

The contestants, well where to start. This is what will drag down the score for many. I am very curious as to why the producers clearly went for a gender dynamic that has really toxic women, and really quite nice men. They seem to have gone out of their way to get dynamic, to the point where the men come across as unrealistically reasonable, and modern and caring and every woman has an issue. That has to be deliberate.

What worries me is that it will fuel misogyny as it shows a really skewed dynamic between genders.

But we have people like Tolú who weaponises racial matters. She says being African is her identity, wears African colours, wears earings in the shape of Africa, wears a neckale in the shape of Africa that says "Africa" then bullies someone she reduces to "a straight white man" into submission because he referred to her by calling her African.

Lindsay who is what I suspect Americans would call a Karen. Her hostility, her tone, is toxic. She shouts even at the camera. Shouting is her one level and you can imagine you'd park too close to her car and she'd rant at you for 20 minutes. You know the energy from her straight away.

Julie who basically says because she had a tough time in life can basically do whatever she wants because she deserves it and others don't. It's scary seeing the self-justification that goes on to be cruel to others.

And it goes on.

But there are interesting nuances. I find myself at times like Tolú despite her very toxic way at keeping everyone in line through fear. Julie as time goes on you get to understand a bit more, and the dynamics that she's torn between. Nothing is truly black and white and seeing the other contestants grapple with these dynamics is what makes it interesting.

I wish they had a slightly balanced the cast a bit more and not had all the guys as ultra-nice and most of the women as toxic, as that to me will just encourage anti-feminist and misogynistic views.

But I'd say give it a proper go. Episode 3 I think is the low point as the toxcity is at full strength and it's hard to find a way to like these people or the show. But once over that hump, the dynamics get way more nuanced and interesting.

And you may even find yourself kind of liking someone you didn't like just an episode a go.

Horrible contestants - Annoying Victimization

I agree with the other reviews here. The show provides an interesting concept BUT it is completely ruined by the most horrible and annoying contestants. I watched until episode 5-6 then just dropped it. Some of the contestants were just shady, mean and have horrible personalities which ultimately ruined a promising show. Some are whiney. The women here are cringe-worthy. The producers should have tried to find better contestants with more interesting personalities - not like these people who are catty and self-deprecating. I hate some just cliched up and bully other contestants. Most of them don't deserve the monty at all. Not recommend to watch!

Fun game but needs better contestants!!!

The concept of the show itself is interesting and fun, it keeps you watching and wondering what will happen next. However, whoever did the casting for this show needs to be fired. Except for a couple of the people, most of the contestants had egos through the roof and were constantly victimizing themselves and attacking others for doing the very exact thing they were doing themselves. Way too much identity politics that frequently ruined the game. Aside from that, it was a fun watch. I think they need to cast a better mix of people who are good but also people who aren't afraid to get greedy or at least know how to manipulate, take offers, and oust people without getting caught. In this first season, for a game called "a game of greed", it didn't seem like many people got greedy and the focus was more on sharing with the family. I agree with that that concept in real life, but this is a game show lol. Despite the casting, it was an interesting game. I would like to see some more crazier offers presented to the contestants. Hope there will be a season 2.

Interesting concept ruined by the most annoying contestants

Great concept, love reality shows like this. Had hopes this one would be as good or as fun to watch at the Squid Game Challenge. But this one quickly (very quickly) becomes unwatchable because of the contestants. Did producers actively seek out the most insufferable, punchable, annoying, narcissistic people they could find? If they did, they succeeded. Especially the women. Angry, bitter, victim crying, manipulative women. A few of the guys seemed nice and honest but were immediately attacked by the angry women for being so. I could not eye roll harder. Major two thumbs way down. Come back with better contestants.

Good reality-TV bridge between Survivor seasons

"The Trust: A Game Of Greed" is "Survivor" with a twist - or, if you prefer, a game of Chicken on the screen. Unlike "Survivor", where the central rule is that a person must be eliminated in every episode, in "Trust" nobody HAS to vote - but if they don't, somebody else might vote against them, and they go home (majority rules, and in this case "majority" can be a single vote). There is a wide diversity of contestants, from the do-gooders to the game-players: Julie stands out as a particularly complex and fascinating character. And because there is no precedent, the players are called upon to invent the "correct" way to play the game on the spot. Even with its faults (including some make-it-up-as-we-go-along twists), this show is much better than Netflix's previous reality-TV experiment, "Surviving Paradise"; I gave that one 4/10, this one gets a 7/10.

The lesson from The Trust is that people are untrustworthy

This game shows you what human nature is really like. With the exception of one individual all contestants showed the most awful sides of human behavior. People lie, cheat and steal. They are greedy, arrogant and selfish. One would think that grouping people would cause them to act better but the reality of it is is that when you put people in a group they act even worse. And the funny thing is that the bad qualities that were shown in this show aren't even the worst humanity has to offer. So the conclusion? Human nature sucks so bad! Yes, there are some good people among us but good qualities like integrity, morality, honesty and even basic common sense are very hard to find these days. I watched this season and I don't know if there are more but to me one is more than enough! I did think the host was excellent though.

Now This Is Reality TV

Only 4 episodes in but I am hooked. Imagine survivor without the physical component. All social game, but like survivor this show does a great job of getting people from different backgrounds and economic classes.

It's also an engaging social experiment. As the audience, we see why people are making the choices they make. To each other it may feel very cut throat, but to the audience we know it was actually a very flippant move or not thought out.

The best part is most of the time people choose to abstain, so someone can be eliminated by JUST ONE VOTE. Never seen anything like it.

Hope it gains traction so we can get a season 2!

Interesting premise, but vile women contestants

I thought the idea was intriguing, but something went very very wrong in the casting, specifically with the women. The one woman I thought was a nutter with the non-binary plant, ended up being the most sane of the lot. The rest of the women are truly some of the most vile, entitled, victims I have ever seen. The african-american woman with the short hair is actually from Nigeria as a child. She gets angry that people refer to her as being African, but she literally wears ear rings and necklaces in the shape of African, not Nigeria. The other young woman who looks a little hispanic, is a perfect example of the entitled 20 somethings running around. On top of being perpetually in need of validation. None of these women have any sense of honor to them, it's disgusting to watch them.

I only made it through 2 episodes, I don't know if I can watch more. These people suck.

Loved it

I do like reality shows and do watch a fair few, and I must say this is one of the best I have seen in a long time. Interesting concept and great characters some of which are very annoying - just makes it even more compelling. There are games to play each episode and usually I find these tedious, but the games are well though out and just add to the tension. The vote out is also tense and very watchable. Some really great characters in the show and a very wide ranging cast they are too, men, women, different backgrounds races, beliefs and wealth all go to make a great social experiment. Sad it is over, and can't wait for the next series!

Some of these so-called contestants ruined an interesting concept

What even is this? If this is all genuine and not a horrible script, then many of the contestants are just miserable, reactionary people. The premise is great and interesting, but many of the contestants' actions are nonsensical and annoying.

I don't know if it's edited weirdly or what, but I just don't understand all the rage and "fierce" dialogues in the second episode.

At this point, if someone coughs the wrong way, a certain group of high school bully is going to turn that into a court case, invoke a history lesson on how a cough destroyed Rome, and bully the person who coughed into the ocean.

It's a reality show, so I don't expect much, but I felt like this broke my suspension of disbelief a lot.

Wow!

The Trust is a captivating reality show that places participants in situations where trust is the key to success. I think about one heartfelt conversation, one addressing race and gender, that was emotionally powerful and beautiful, delving into various topics of race and gender. Despite tackling serious issues at times, the show manages to remain entertaining, making it a truly engaging and thought-provoking experience.

Does our shared humanity lead to unity and trust, or do inherent differences spark betrayal? It's a thought-provoking journey into the core of human connections and the dynamics that shape our relationships.

Cool concept not cool contestants

This could end up being a fun show in future seasons but the casting was putrid. I don't think they could have picked worse human beings for this if they tried.

The concept has promise, but I personally couldn't finish this show. Women being horrible people just for the sake of being horrible people.

None of them are interesting, funny, or even just decent. Hopefully when they bring this back next season, they focus less on total diversity and more on contestants that will bring viewers. There's a difference between being a cut throat game player and just a garbage human being. Anyone that watched knows who I am talking about.
