The movie follows the American influencer James, who is currently in France. To increase her clicks, she decides to visit a haunted house (the eponymous chateau) to shoot some spooky videos.

Unfortunately, the entire movie has a lot of Blair Witch-style video segments.

These may have been something new at one point, but now they've had their day and are just distracting.

In addition, the main character was rather off-putting for me, I couldn't really sympathize with her and so the scary moments weren't really good either.

The twist at the end was nice, but unfortunately it couldn't lift the movie above the 4 star mark.

If you are really bored you can give this movie a chance, but there are much better things you can do with your time.

I watched the movie with little to no expectations. It turns out to be decent, above average for this kind of movie.

All the actors did a good job, specially the main character. Like all the movies of this type, it takes some time to see the things happening, but in this one, it didnt take too much time.

The film manages to maintain enough tension to keep you hooked till the very end.

In conclusion, this is a well-executed horror film that doesn't break new ground but offers a thrilling ride for fans of the genre. It's definitely above average for found footage films, and while it may not leave a lasting impression, it certainly delivers the scares when it matters most. There are better movies of this genre out there, but there are much more worser.

I gave this movie a chance even though I don't especially like found footage, because the premise was light and entertaining - maybe a horror comedy, you know?

The lead James is a woman who perfectly fits that kind of shallow, social climbing stereotype of a wanna be influencer. Her mother has just passed away, and her sister attempts to reach out to her but doesn't get far with her angry sibling. Instead, James is spending the summer in France with her new gay best friend who is also a relatively shallow American.

I managed to make it over halfway through the movie but I thought the actual horror part was not scary at all and just kind of lame. This might appeal more to much younger viewers.
