Im surprise there is no review yet for this amazing series, so I'm gonna start the ball rolling here. This series presents a refreshing, "down-to-earth" perspective on the Gundam universe, offering a grounded look at the human cost of war rather than the usual large-scale strategic warfare that many fans may expect.
The story deviates from the typical tactical war games that have become a hallmark of the franchise. Instead, it focuses more on the human element-the tragedies and chaos that arise from conflict. Admittedly, there are moments when the characters seem unsure of what to do, which can pull the viewer out of the immersion. Still, despite these occasional lapses, the narrative remains engaging and binge-worthy, a testament to the creator's vision. Notably, this is the first mainline Gundam series produced by a Western team, which makes the achievement all the more impressive.
One of the standout features of this series is the battle scenes. The mobile suits feel massive and imposing, with their movements and speed depicted in a way that's both believable and thrilling. This is the most "grounded" portrayal of mobile suit combat since Gundam Thunderbolt, and it surpasses even that in terms of realism. However, while the fight sequences are excellent, the character animation could use some improvement. I'm hopeful that with a larger budget in future seasons, this aspect will see significant enhancement.
For newcomers to the Gundam universe, there may be some terminology that doesn't quite resonate, but the core story is simple enough to enjoy without prior knowledge. Overall, I'd rate this series a solid 8/10-an impressive achievement and a worthy addition to the Gundam franchise.

So this really is a mixed bag. Overall I'm very happy it was made but disappointed.
There are some very strong points such as the animation the fight sequences the level of detail i like the main character who is a very strong female lead without being a mary sue.
There are some very weak points such as the actual dialogue which fluctuates between well thought out episodes with realistic dialogue and other episodes that sound like they were written by chat gpt .
There is a level of modernism that is thrown into this which is completely unnecessary and attracts from it.
The accents are all over the place which normally compliments Gundam films and TV shows but in this case was poorly chosen and makes no sense.
The middle half of it felt very weak and lackluster where is the beginning and ending was phenomenal. Episodes 1-2 and 6 held up to the original Gundam films. Where is episodes 3 through 5 varied from g gundam level of sillyness to some well done scenes.
As far as the mobile suits various armor and fight scenes very well done. They do overpower the Gundam which I think was silly and change the face. But it's much better than a lot of the UC spin-offs we have.
I do hope they make some video games with this assets.
Strenths Base story Set design and details Battle sequence Strong female lead Didn't red con anything Solid voice acting
Weak points Silly secondary characters Overpowered Gundam Bad dialogue written by chat GPT or poorly translated Filler episodes Modern political discourse injected which has nothing to do with Gundam or anti war gundam themes.
On the one hand I'm happy for anything uc thats new. But this very easily could have been much better with a little editing and a little better writing.... I'm convinced if you cut this down from 3 hours to an hour and a half and used ai to change some lines and add some it would actually A+ film . But its not . Worth watching for any Gundam fan not sure for anybody else.

I have not finished watching this series yet, but the animation of the characters is distractingly bad, so bad I felt like expressing my displeasure here. This is really just related to the expressions of the characters. The rendering looks very decent otherwise, but, I swear, ReBoot, a 3D animated series exactly 30 years old, the second such ever, has much better facial expressions and mouth movements. How can that be the case in 2024? Otherwise from that, the voice acting, action and pacing is pretty good, but I hope the production company fixes the glaring weakness in subsequent iterations.
I really love Gundam and have been watching and playing with it since the 80's.
But I have an extremely hard time trying to enjoy this due to the absolute wonky and amateur looking visuals.
As if they hired a company that only showed them pictures of what it could look like and the character facial details which looked amazing. So they accepted them for doing the visuals and never asked for actual movies scenes and just released it with full confidence.
I mean the characters look, act and behave so unrealistically.
Especially their facial expressions... It's just a pain to watch and only those that don't care about visuals would be able to enjoy this.
I'd rather listen to this as if it's an audio book then expose myself to these horrific visual.

I just finished watching the first season of Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance (2024-) and while this show was decent at best, I was also very disappointed as a Gundam fan. Then again, this show was made by Netflix, so I shouldn't be surprised.
Positives for Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance (2024-): I thought it was an interesting angle for this show to have the Principality of Zeon as the heroes and the Gundam Mobile Suit as the villain. There were some good characters interacts in between the action set pieces. And finally, you do get some great action sequences in these six episodes.
Negatives for Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance (2024-): This show suffers from the same issues as almost any movie or tv show made by Netflix. First off, I didn't feel like I got to know a lot about these characters. This season only has 6 episodes and it felt rushed. And finally, the show does the bare minimum like a lot of other Netflix projects.
Overall, Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance (2024-) was a good enough anime that can be improved upon in future season, but I'm starting to get very annoyed with Netflix now.
