Truth

It tries to be a great movie and it has a decent enough premise, but it falls short on many levels. The acting is better than some movies, and the cast do there best but the writing leaves a lot to be desired and the words often seem forced. Direction is fine, some decent shots. The plot could have been much better but the opening exposition and even the scene with the "military" doesn't do the movie any favours.

The Virus (2014): Those meddling kids ... But it's not all their fault. A film studies professor notices that a mountainous area is constantly obscured by clouds, exploring he observes buildings in the area. He persuades his students to go on a trip to find out what's going on. Naturally they ignore warning notices and trek across rough territory eventually reaching the buildings, one which they break into appears to be an abandoned hospital. Meanwhile, not so alert military contractors discover that there's a security breach. Their HQ implements an extreme prejudice option and dispatches more mercenaries. Yep, the area was used for experimentation on human subjects but things went wrong and a virus went loose in the complex. Rge students start to become ill, not just physical sickness but also becoming violent and acting/speaking strangely. The contractors shoot the first of the group who try to leave. After that it's a battle for survival, they face danger from the vtus, violence from each other and the mercenaries. The back story unfolds through found footage and documents. A dark conspiracy had unfolded in this isolated compound. It would be a spoiler to say any more about that. A decent enough film given its low budget. Great idea for a movie - horrible execution. I get that it is on a shoestring budget and probably on a short deadline, but when "actors" read lines with the same compassion as they read a phonebook from 1955, it is up to the director to guide, lead and take the scene again until it sounds right. None of that seems to be the case here. The tempo of the movie is also really bad. Long unnecessary scenes just to stretch the movie a bit longer, makes nobody happy. There was a clear opportunity just to add a couple of subplots in the middle, just to add to the school kids doing school kids stuff. The ones that were there, did nothing to add to the story. Perhaps work with a better director/writer - and sell the idea to a big studio ?

Crap. That's it. This movie is garbage. I found it on Tubi under the title The Virus. Very confusing and hard to follow. Skip this one.
