First, this film is not sci-fi, it is a thriller around mysterious and dramatic events happening in the sea on a coastal city in France . As unusual events develop emotions grow high in the city. Personal and social conflicts increasingly involve the fisherme community , the police, the army, families and scientists. In the background the memories of a dramatic event that has shaken the community and left deep marks on the individuals who were affected by the event.

The beauty of that series is that it work at many levels. It is intriguing, suspenseful, emotional, surprising and social.

The cast is brilliant without any imperfection. The direction is smooth and very subtle . The music efficient and discreet. The acting is excellent. Fleur Geffrier is fascinating in her complex role of a wounded woman struggling to stay on top of the events.. Guillaume Labbé's character evolution and emotional expressions are a change from usually reserved male characters in French cinema. Thierry Godard, one of the most underused actor, gives to an otherwise tough guy a subtle sensitivity. All actors are at their place. Particularly the little deaf boy, Ewwen Weber whose presence is luminous and reassuring in a community haunted by anxiety and tragedies.

There are no clichés in this series. Sounds and lights take an important role in the plot and they are very efficiently used. Underwater and on water sequences are fascinating. The plot is original.

I really enjoyed thoroughly this series whose ending did not disappoint me, quite the contrary.

I believe that this series is outstanding and deserves much large audience.
