A mere entertainer which you can watch once or miss out.

First half seemed promising, some good jokes and lame jokes around, but movie fails to hold the plot and storyline, feels streched and yet fails to deliver despite good starcast.

A mere entertainer which you can watch once or miss out.

As usual we can see Rajkumar rao trying his best but yet failing, tripti seems average, jokes some falls short , some sure does make you laugh and some makes you question about the film. The plot does not carry us in the storyline. It diverts alot just to entertain us, leaving alot of dead spots which could have been filled with alot of creativity.

A no brainer semi entertainer.

A crazy mixed up comedy for fun viewing

The plot in brief is as follows. During their honeymoon a young couple decides in fun to record their private moments in a video CD. To their bad luck it gets stolen causing embarrassment to all. As a cop starts investigating it sets off a chain of anxious and amusing events. Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri play the couple. The movie itself tries to position itself as a full fledged comic caper and almost succeeds. There are a number of hilarious scenes and amusing gags. All characters are caricatures with varying degrees of craziness. An ensemble of comedians like Rakesh Bedi, Archana Puran Singh, Tiku Tilsania, Mukesh Tiwari,Ashwini Kalsekar and Vijay Raaz go all out to create comic situations which are entertaining no doubt. Vijay Raaz once again plays a crazy cop who investigates the case of the missing CD with laughable results.

Director Raaj Shaandilya has made it an entertaining comedy with no questions to be asked on the credibility of the situations. The characters are over the top, crazy and loud most of the time and there are a few raunchy scenes too. The movie is patterned that way. There are references to songs of the past and there is a remix too with Daler Mehndi. All told it provides escapist entertaininment.

Raaj Shandilyaa's Over The Top Comedy is Low On Substance

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (2024) : Movie Review -

Raaj Shaandilyaa is definitely losing his touch, and the statement becomes more relevant when you see films like Janhit Mein Jaari, Luv Ki Arrange Marriage, Dream Girl 2, and now Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. What must be the reason? The forced comedy remains the constant factor here. Apparently, these films somehow tried to tackle sensitive social issues, which I believe Raaj should stop doing at once. Let's stick to the comedy and make a good comedy; forget the social awareness and family problems. People come to cinemas to enjoy comedies, not to see their sensitive issues getting brutally trolled on the screen. Not everyone can be Rajkumar Hirani, and even a great filmmaker like him has failed recently with Dunki; then Raaj Shandilyaa is way behind.

Set in Rishikesh in 1997, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has a mehndi designer, Vicky (Rajkummar Rao), who is in love with Vidya (Tripti Dimri). By hook or crook, they manage to get married by creating a solid drama that looks very childish on the screen. Instead of Vaishnodevi, they decide to go to Goa for their honeymoon, and there they have this crazy idea of shooting a video of their sexual encounter. After returning home, the CD of their video gets stolen by a thief, and the couple sees trouble calling in the future. To avoid that, they must find the CD, but is it that easy? Find out the answer in the movie.

The film is written by Raaj Shaandilyaa only, so I'll take him responsible for all the goods and bads. First goods: This is an out-and-out comedy right from the beginning scene till the last one. Every single scene has been designed to create comedy and laughter. Now negatives: This is actually a forced comedy and looks very kiddish on many occasions. I personally think that this Western idea of making a honeymoon video was the worst selling point for the film. By calling it 97% parivarik, you are actually keeping 97% of the family audience away because any film with a sexual encounter's reference cannot appeal to the family audiences who like to watch the film together, especially with the kids. Raaj's screenplay is full of cringe scenes and Facebook post jokes that I used to read a decade ago during college days. Many of them became WhatsApp forwards later, but Raaj is too late to take them as the main reference point in the film. The film suffers from a poor plot and weak screenplay.

Rajkummar Rao is one of the finest actors of Bollywood from a young lot (his generation), but movies and roles like these don't do justice to his talent. He was fine in Srikanth this year, but the direction was flawed. He was decent in Stree 2, which wasn't an acting-driven role but survived due to the presence of a better director. Now here, he lacks both. Tripti Dimri can never be considered a good actress with such glamorous and stamp paper roles. I'd like to see her gorgeous face again and again, but not if she is not doing justice to the "actor" in her. For that, she must continue doing Bulbull and Qala. Vijay Raaz brings a few laughs, and Mallika Sherawat looks hot throughout the film, but these two could have been provided with better dialogues and characteristics. Archana Puran Singh and Mukesh Tiwari are loud and annoying; Tiku Talsania saves the day; Ashwini Kalsekar goes wild and over the top; Mast Ali, Kaveri Jha, and the rest of the supporting cast couldn't do anything noticeable. Shehnaaz Gill raises temperature with her cameo in a badly remade song.

VVKWWV has technical flaws as well, but I think it hardly matters in genres like comedy. The cinematography was decent, the editing was below average as it couldn't hold me for two and a half hours, the background score was too typical, like a TV sitcom, and the production design was fairly decent. The music doesn't help here except that the songs are visually appealing. It lacks a chartbuster for sure. A few dialogues are very funny, while the rest of them look forced and artificial. "Baat baat pe maarti hai, shaadi karke biwi laya hun ya Ajay Devgn"-these kinds of dialogue would definitely make you laugh. However, the forced humor and screenplay will annoy you. What was the need of Stree's spoof? Was there any need for chaotic mess in the ending? The film could have been wrapped within two hours, but this extra half an hour is what caused its downfall. Raaj Shandilyaa should start writing original jokes now because the internet has made these standup comedies, one-liners, and WhatsApp/Facebook forwards much more viral in today's time than they were before the pandemic. And most importantly, stop forcing comedy and PJs in every single scene. It looks tiresome in an hour or so. In short, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is low on substance and high on childish jokes.

Why so much Hate? Movie is Enjoyable...

Raaj Shaandilyaa did it again. Just like Dream Girl This movie is also filled with so much laughs. Funny Dialouges are Fresh, Unique, non repeated, never heard before... but movie is no where near Hungama, Dream Girl...

Rajkumar Rao Isn't good actor at all. No idea why everyone likes it. He does bad facial expression, Over acting. Has no talent at all.

Ayushman would have been much better choice for this movie...

Story is ok. Editing is bad. Some funny scenes not synced with its related sound. Movie has enough things to keep audience engaged. Short time length was good decision...

Ayushman and Good editing would have made movie much better...

Entertaining Movie

A very nice and light headed movie that can be watched with family. I don't know how is it reviewed so low. Great acting by Rajkumar Rao, Tripti Dimri, Mallika sherawat, vijay raaz, tiku talsania and almost everyone in the movie. The movie has a good direction and witty dialogues and keeps the audience engaged throughout the movie. First half of the movie is better filled with humour. Some depth could have been added to Triptii's character which would have enhanced the chemistry between Rajkumar Rao and Triptii Dimri. But overall a good to watch movie with family, friends, colleagues or anyone.

Pure torture

Bollywood should just accept their epic downfall and stop making movies. I had given up on bollywood long ago but I had hoped that if Tripti and Rajkumar are the stars of the movie then there might be something worth watching but how wrong was I. Bollywood stars should consider acting in movie which will enhance the cinematic experiences rather than only focusing on what is going to make them more money or famous because I assure you this will only reduce the audience trust in you. Although in short term these kind of movies will make you famous on reels it won't enhance your image at all. I feel bad for my wallet and time which got wasted on this movie. If movies with bad plotlines and torturing songs are made then at least have a good comic timing. Sitting in the theatre and eating overpriced tasteless nachos while watching this ridiculous movies was a pure torture.

It's a decent watch for the sake of time-pass...

I observed lots of mixed reviews from the audiences as well as from the critics yet went for it because of it's strong starcast and good film makers name associated with it. In simple terms I can consider it as a decent one time watch kind of comedy which is worth watching in my personal view.

The Acting performances of both leading characters were superb and all other supportive characters also played their parts brilliantly. Rajkumar as Vicky is totally suitable for such kind of roles. His way of talking, comic timings and actions while portraying his funky roles were hilarious to watch. Tripti Dimri was damn adorable in this entire movie and played her part decently. Leading character's parents were also hilarious to watch with their funky roles. But The Show Stealer performance was given by Vijay Raj here. Hands down! It was his best work in recent times. His style, action, comic timing and so called romance in this movie definitely outplayed Rajkumar's character for sure. Even his chemistry with Mallika Shehrawat was also damn better than our leading characters.

Storyline of this movie was very short and extremely short forward. 90s songs were very well attached according to the situations but other songs were average in this movie. The runtime is also little bit dragged I guess, I mean in the beginning of this movie they could have been trimmed down the story a little bit. And of course the climax story, Ohh man! That was completely out of plot, they just adjusted it little bit to get mixed with the main plot and of course some unnecessary melodramatic dialogue deliveries, not that suitable for all kind of audiences.

Overall a decent watch, if you want to spend your boring time with a fresh comedy movie. From my side it will be 6 out of 10 Stars for it and I will consider it as 90% safe to watch with family, but beware of some double meaning cringe dialogues and 2/3 soft makeout scene..That's it...

This movie would have been bad in the 90's

Overview: The type of movie that Hindi Cinema should have left behind in this day and age. Full of implausible scenarios, overacting, and no real attention paid to plot.

Plot: Set in 1997, the story is interesting enough with Vicky and Vidya a young couple looking to recover the CD on which they filmed an adult video of themselves. They get themselves into completely ridiculous scenarios. The main issue plot wise is that random things keep happening that were not mentioned before. For example, the main villain does not appear until 2/3 the way through, and we don't know the context for which they are there. Also there is an element of horror which totally doesn't fit the rest of the plot and just seems to be there for some random multiverse situation.

Acting: The acting is fine with decent performances by both Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri. The script was terrible so not much that they could do with it. The rest of the cast is fine as well nothing much to report on.

Music: Music is ok with one very good song Mere Mehboob playing during the credits as an item number.

Conclusion: Not even worth a watch on OTT platforms. Give this one a miss.

Don't believe in Paid reviews

You can truly enjoy this film; it's a classic mix of comedy and thriller that keeps you entertained. Despite the PR team's efforts to generate negativity, it's clear that much of the backlash stems from disingenuous reviews. Many of the IMDb ratings appear to be orchestrated PR tactics that just don't hold weight anymore. Viewers are looking for authentic experiences, and this film delivers that in spades. Its charm and wit stand out, proving that sometimes the best stories aren't about perfect ratings but about genuine enjoyment. So, don't let the noise deter you-this movie is worth your time!

Happy watching.

The film "Vicky Vidya ka woh wala Video" is good for one time watch. As a comedy movie, you will definitely like this but don't expect much. Storyline and plot settings should have been better. Rajkumar Rao performed good but sometimes you mistakes him with Vicky (Stree 2). Vijay Raaz performed brilliantly. His acting will make you laugh definitely and I can say it for no doubt that he will be one of your favourite actors. Mallika Sherawat did well but her performance should have been better. Tripti as usual tried but couldn't make a strong impact. The storyline is okay okay and should have been more engaging. The movie shows how we use other people in our needs and throw their lives in danger. The first half was engaging but second half is little bit slow. Ending is good and totally unexpected. Good comedy movie for one time watch. You can watch it with family without any hesitation.

Vicky Vidya will be back serves as a warning.

Vidya is about to get married and she along with her lover Vicky, trick everyone at the wedding into believing that the groom is an insecure guy, doubting Vidya. As the marriage gets cancelled, Vicky steps into marry Vidya despite her being a doctor and him, a mehendi artist. They lie to their family and change their honeymoon destination to Goa, where they end up making a private video of themselves for memories. Back at home, they get robbed and the CD got left in the CD player which got stolen. Now, Vicky has to retrieve the CD no matter what after realizing how incompetent the cops on the case are. Through comedy of errors, Vicky and co, uncover a nasty truth and how do they resolve the issue, forms rest of the story.

The gang behind Comedy Circus is honestly capable of much more than what they have delivered in this movie. Sadly the film is laden with recycled jokes that remain dead on arrival and the film doesn't take itself seriously till the final act which alone could have worked in it's favor, if the dramatic final act hadn't turn towards preaching. The jokes too needed to be better as the bunch of good actors have been given nothing to work with. The film kept dragged on without any worthy comedy segment and the actors could only do so much. More than a decade ago, I would have laughed at some of these jokes as part of comedy circus skit but not anymore. I am aware of deletion of Stree segment so even with it, that whole graveyard scene wouldn't have been funny.

Full entertainment movie with a strong message to society

I don't know why this movie is so underrated, it's full on entertainment. It always feels so great to watch Rajkumar Rao in his desi look and acting & Tripti also did great job. All characters played their part so beautifully, dialogue writing is great and comedy timing is nice. I really enjoyed watching this movie without getting bored for a single minute. Only downside is music which is not great and i think that's the reason no one is talking much about this movie. So i would recommend everyone one who didn't watched this movie, just watch it now and I am sure you are not going to regret it.

AVG Film by Hit Ya Flop - Movie World

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is a film that starts with promise but fizzles out due to weak storytelling and direction. It tries to be a complete fun entertainer but falls short of delivering a consistently entertaining experience. While it starts off on a high note with funny dialogues and one-liners, the film suffers from a lack of story and a sloppy screenplay, making it a tale of two halves-one that entertains and one that irritates. The makers' attempt to include horror-comedy scenes, especially the homage to the hit film "Stree," was a major letdown. What should have been a clever nod turned out to be a sequence that didn't quite fit and left the audience disappointed.

Writer-director Raj Shandilya, who made a name for himself with comedy hits like "Dream Girl" and "Dream Girl 2," demonstrates his knack for humor in the first half of this film. The opening half is a riot-every joke lands, the punchlines hit the mark. The dialogue is sharp, and the chemistry between the lead characters is fun to watch. However, the fun doesn't last long. As soon as the second half begins, the film loses its charm. The plot centers around the search for 'that CD,' but after a while, this chase becomes repetitive and boring. The film could have easily been cut by 15 minutes with some tighter editing.

Rajkummar Rao shines in the comic sequences, his impeccable timing elevating the humor. Triptii Dimri supports him well, but her character feels underdeveloped. She had the potential for more, but the script fails to give her enough depth. One of the brighter spots in the film is Mallika Sherawat, making a brilliant comeback. Vijay Raaz and Tiku Talsania, did their best to inject life into their roles and bringing genuine laughs. Rakesh Bedi and Archana Patel are terrific in their respective roles. It's a treat to see Mast Ali, famous for his Hyderabadi comedy films, in a Hindi movie. He adds a unique flavor to the comedy. However, even all these strong performance can't save the film from its weak narrative.

Direction 2.5/5 Acting 3/5 Dialogues 3/5 Story 2/5 Screenplay 2/5.

Please feel free to skip this movie

I am a fan of Rajkumar Rao's acting, also Tripti Dimri's performance in bulbul is unforgettable... This movie has all the renowned actors who are known for their comedy for decades...such as Archana Poonam Singh. However the script/execution of the movie was monotonous. Comic timing was ok, however the content is average, rather below average at times.

It could be a one time watch for few , but better to skip it if you value your time!

I gave 3 stars only for the actors, I would like to rate 1 star for execution and story of this film.

Unfortunately this movie had all the ingredients, but was unable to entertain due to poor story and execution.

Fun and Entertaining

Oh, after many months, some exciting, entertaining, fun, comedy, lighthearted movie hit the theaters!

Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is really an amazing movie, a full time pass movie. It's a bright and colorful movie which I am missing these days. Even though "wo wala video", there is nothing of that sort in the flick, so go ahead with your family, kids and have a fun time.

There is collection of old and new songs to fully enjoy.

Direction is brilliant. Let's not be too judgmental, enjoy the movie!

Even though there are many characters in movie, it's not too-much-going-on scenario. Only a limited characters remain on screen/story.

Have Fun!

This CD should have stayed lost

A one hour concept needlessly stretched to 2 hr 21 mts, this movie will make you tear your hair out seeing a talented cast run around doing the cringiest things for no reason. Half of the characters are needless and the only saving graces are Vijay Raaz and Mallika Sherawat, who would have done wonders in a better written movie. After Bad Newz and this, Trupti Dimri should perhaps avoid doing comedy - it's perhaps not her genre. Rajkumar Rao does his best but he should start choosing better scripts than this. Everyone else have overacted their way to the end. Highly not recommended. Wish this Video remained lost.

In the name of comedy get ready to cringe at ultimate level

A quirky title, Raj as the lead, and a ROFL trailer had sealed the deal for me. However, I skipped watching it due to poor reviews when it was released. And now that I've seen it, I'm not happy. People were kind when they said it was bad-it's not just bad, it's trash.

Set in the 90s, the story revolves around a VHS tape containing an intimate video of a couple that gets stolen. The couple leaves no stone unturned to retrieve it, leading to supposedly hilarious situations.

The plot had the potential to go berserk with comedy, but sadly, none of it translated on screen. Apart from the core idea, the entire movie runs on illogical sequences. From how the couple gets married to the bride agreeing to shoot an intimate video, and the numerous characters engaging in gimmicks during the tape's search-it's all absurd. The characters aren't funny; they're cringeworthy. A horny sister, a sleazy police inspector, dumb parents, and some buffoons lost in their delusions make up the cast. The makers attempt to portray middle-class, small-town people, but it fails miserably.

Rajkummar Rao shines even in this absurd setting, but no matter how hard he tries, he couldn't save this sinking ship. Thankfully, Triptii Dimri isn't here for mere skin show; she delivers a sincere performance. Mallika Sherawat returns to the screen after a long time, and while she still has her charm, it only works to an extent. Vijay Raaz's character is poorly written, making his scenes painfully cringeworthy. A host of other talented actors are part of the film but are utterly wasted.

This is literally like lot of jokes written first and stitched them together to make a movie. The jokes fall flat because they're forced and lack context. The makers throw every formula they know at the wall-popular current actress, a quirky title, remixed songs (Sajna, Na Na Nare), a promotional dance number (Chumma), WhatsApp jokes, memes, and more. But without a strong foundation (read: screenplay), how can they expect the movie to work?

The jokes could work as reels, and the songs might gain traction on YouTube. But do yourself a favor and skip the movie for the sake of your sanity.

Stay away from this movie not even netflix material

"Stay away from this one, no need to waste your time watching. It's just an overblown attempt at forced comedy with actors trying way too hard to be funny, but failing miserably. The jokes fall flat, the humor feels awkward and uninspired, and the entire script seems like it's grasping at straws for laughs that never come. The songs are some of the worst you'll hear-uninspired, poorly executed, and utterly forgettable. To make it worse, the movie keeps introducing new characters every 30 minutes, none of whom add anything of value or humor to the story. A tedious and frustrating experience overall.

What a waste of Shrimaan Shrimati couple

All I could think of was that they had Prema Shalini and Dilbura Uncle and they could get nothing out of this iconic pair. Such a waste!

Rest is all the usual masala: Pick a small town in India, middle class families, streetsmart lead couple, some annoying yet funny family members, some old song remixes, one sad song where actors realize they have goofed up, one social message at the end and then some more preaching!

It was fine when the trend started and we also had some nice movies we can still go back to but the herd mentality is what kills creativity. Film makers realized the formula works and now they just do copy paste of the same old formulas with no innovation or creativity.

Dekh lo time pass karna hai toh, waise koi khaas nahi hai.
