Avis à la une
Of course I had never heard about this 2024 movie titled "Bee Hive" prior to sitting down to watch it. I have to bluntly admit that I harbored zero expectations to the movie, as it just didn't really seem like a movie that had a lot to offer.
But at least it was not a movie from Maverick Entertainment, which I had initially expected, given the movie's cover and title.
The movie was not off to a great start, given the lousy music that played during the intro credit sequence. Yeah, I absolutely loathe that genre of music.
I have to say that I found the storyline and narrative in "Bee Hive" to be very monotonous and lacking hooks to keep me interested. My attention quickly started drifting from the screen, because writer and director Nakia T Hamilton failed to concoct a script that catered to my liking in entertainment. Once the movie came to an end, I was left with an overwhelming sense of pointlessness and thinking 'what was this movie really about?'
Needless to say that I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, and that was a good thing, because I enjoy watching unfamiliar talents on the screen when I watch a movie. The acting performances in "Bee Hive" were a mixed bag of nuts, because some were able to put on good performances, whereas others were dubious at best.
My rating of writer and director Nakia T Hamilton's 2024 movie "Bee Hive" lands on a generous three out of ten stars.

After 10 minues of watching I had to ask myself: What the heck is this? Nakia T. Hamilton's "Bee Hive" misses the mark as a crime drama, filled with clichés and flat characters. The plot about three women diving into the drug trade feels unoriginal, and their quick rise to success is hard to believe. Zeus, the local drug lady, comes off more as a cartoon than a real character... The film doesn't manage to connect emotionally, leaving viewers feeling distant from the characters' struggles. In the end, I have to say that the "Bee Hive" is a real failure - doesn't deliver a gripping story or standout performances.
